Well saw it, read it, signed it AND THERE IS NO NON-COMPETE CLAUSE. Is BeePeeOOO a former eTel employee? All employees I have talked to also said there was non in theirs as well. Talagang wala. Pero yup tuloy na ako sa M&M, the salary is 12K basic + 3k transpo allowance + 30% night differential + P2000 every month for just passing the Series 6,7 and 63 exams. Around 21K sya a month pero kasi puro night shift itong M&M. However, no shifting schedules (thanks God) and of course tuloy ang gimik dahil Saturdays and Sundays always off!

i don't think beepeeooo was an etel employee.
as a former employee of etel, wala nga kaming non compete clause noon.
nasaan ba si beepeeooo?

I saw the non-compete clause on Etel posted in "the working Filipino forum".
That is good news....baka mag-apply ako next year after my current stint. Gusto kong magka-VISA for free at addicted ako sa stock market industry even until now. Para akong robot kung magtrabaho sa ganyang industry.

They are currently RAVING about expanding their operations. Yung account namin dating 50 agents lang sila and now they want ito to 90 agents thus they want 40 new agents. Ang balita AOL will start in eTel on September. Eto na yata yung kapalit ng Dell kasi paunti unti nag pupullout na yung Dell in favor of their own call center.

Hey guys interested for a job at eTelecare? Many of the programs are expanding (our M&M aka mutual fund and stock brokerage, Voyager aka traveller's checks) and eTel is getting 2 new entirely programs I believe. One is AOL and the other is for a finanical institution regarding loans.....
Here is the proof of the expansion of eTelecare and we really need new people!

If you're interested kindly PM me here at PEx and I will get back to you as soon as I can. You could also text me at 0917-8306823.

For the record, Dell is not pulling out it's CTS account in eTel. It's the other way around, eTel is giving up CTS. One of the most compelling reasons why they decided to do that is Dell CTS has been a major dillema for all Tech support agents, TL's and Managers. eTel sufferred a lot in the numbers game when it comes to Employee satisfaction. It dropped from 84% last quarter to 64% this Q2. The reason for this is that most of the agents are staying up to 13 hours doing call outs, making the necessary follow ups with customers, (sic) banctec and other departments. It has also been reported as well that eTel has the highest queue time (which reaches an hour) among all sites. When they asked Rajan about this, he does not have an answer.
Not only that, no matter what you read in the internet or see on Television about American customers dissin' Indian Technicians, they are still the highest in terms of Customer satisfaction. This is a big question for all manila sites especially eTel. There are some hearsays though that this is because Indian Techs are not owning their cases. Thus, when the customer calls again and speak with another technician, he will get all the blows including the dissatisfaction survey because it was an based on "ALL CALLS". The metrics Dell has been asking from its agents are way too high and very unbelievable to achieve.
As for eTel, new clients are coming in. Some of which include an Online Service Provider, a Finance Management software (which needs up to 800 agents during peak season) and a program managing stocks. Fortunately, Dell CTS is not its biggest account, it 's actually the third and might fall further with the advent of new accounts.
I'm so glad eTel made this move. I can't wait to be transferred to less complicated and less stressfull program(with less Indian Techs and Indian Dell bigwigs around). Finally, I can enjoy life as it is.

hello there
I just want to know what are the screening process at E-tele

1st one is phone interview as in tatawagan ka sa cellphone mo. I think here they just wanna know if you have good English accent and if your voice is nice and clear over a phone.
2nd is an IQ exam. Its composed of math, logic, abstract reasoning, and general information. Easy for me though.
3rd is a Tech exam for TSR or essay for CSR. I took the tech exam AND ITS HARD if you don't know a lot about computers. (Eventually I got the finance position so thats what I really wanted)
4th is the Face-toFace interview. This varies a lot and is highly dependent on the contents of your resume. They ask questions like how you handle pressure, if you had a job before why did you quit and stuff like that. Basically paimpress ka lang but not sounding arrogant....
5th is the simulated phone interview. Here they will see your problem solving skills as well as your general impression over a phone. May scenario na irate yung caller, here they will test how you handle irate callers.
6th Either another interview or job offer na.... In my case it was already a job offer.

I don't think eTel accepts part-time as of the moment, only full time kasi kailangan nila talaga nang tao na will be working 8 hour shifts....
But they do accept undergrads, but I think only for OUTBOUND.
Dami sa Libis, there is C3, Sitel, IBM, iTouch Point, Citibank

In fact, may promo ang eTelecare sa mga current employees nito. if the employees get to refer people to join eTelecare they get P3000 added to their pay for every successfull referral kaya daming nag rerefer...

Actually people who have background in finance and investments or people who have worked previously in banks will ertainly have an advantage, but don't worry meron nga mga taong nag aral ng physical theraphy tapos pumasa....
Anyways, there are 2 kinds as you probably altready know. Minnehaha takes Series 6 exams (this allows you to sell ONLY MUTUAL FUNDS and ANNUITIES), and there is IMO the better of the M&M bros. which is Minnetonka who takes Series 7 exams (allows you to sell and trade all kinds of securties in the corporate and government levels, the only exceptions are futures and commodities). You also need to pass Series 63 regardless if Minnehaha or Minnetonka, this exams allows you to trade in all 50 States in the United States.
Series 7 is HARDER by a mile and you really need to pretty much give up 1 whole month for studying, Series 6 is easier. Series 63 is the easiest and 2 weeks is already enough to study for it. But with proper motivation and proper attitude getting those are very easy. *okay*

If you feel comfortable doing phone sales then why not? I mean outbound sales people sometimes earn P50,000 a month just because they sold a lot. May commissions yan unlike samin sa inbound wala....
Sales is not only the opening, there is M&M which is a brokerage and where I belong, there is a tech support for AOL which is entirely new program....
If you don't like sales maybe you can negotiate for other openings, if the recruiter keeps on insisting you go to sales maybe you don't have the qualifications for the other programs...

As I mentioned in my above post meron ding hindi sales.... Are you a fresh graduate?? Normally they give sales to fresh grads, unless you're so good and techy then you can be nominated for tech support either for Dell or AOL. Then if you're into finance maybe M&M and some other finance programs like Voyager, Xmen and the like.....
Yeah Makati is the house for the sales programs.... Libis houses all the financial programs and probably 80% of tech support.

ei! i've been reading this post and it helped me coz somehow i have a background of etel. anyway, i'm applying for TSR or inbound csa, i'm a computer science student but i don't know much about networking and servers stuff, i'm very interested in web development and programming languages like C++, visual basic and the like. nag-apply kasi ako as TSR sa enfrausa, two types of exam, isang html related and isang napakahabang network administration related, grabe eh d ko nga hilig yung field na yun eh. ano ba field of work and type of exam ng TSR sa etel? if ever network related, i'll apply for the inbound csa nalang... hope you could help me... thanks

TSR ng AOL might be network related kasi ISP yun. But for Dell its more on hardware.
FendeR_21
Sep 3, 2005, 01:58 PM
bro if youre interested to be a TSR you only do two things speak and solve cust tech issue. If youre for AOL-TSR, then youre gonna solve connection probs for either Dial up or DSL, and most likely net related probs like email issues with outlook/aol software, cannot open websites, slow connections etc.... been there, ISP rep ako before
web develpment, visual c++ etc... its another thing

I am thinking of going back to Etelecare but I am interested in the Trainer and TL positions. Anybody here from Etel HR and Recruitment?
I also want to ask about M&M (Minnehaha and Minnetonka). Is the pay scale higher than that for XOR? I spoke with an HR assistant on the phone and she said M&M is ramping up right now. The bottomline for me is that my past experience with Etelecare should give me higher pay than an entirely new CSA because I already have the experience.

Yes you could go back to eTel. And yes you could go back as a TL but it will highly depend on what program. I don't think someone can just go to eTel and just become a TL just like that especially for M&M cause this program is strict and requires the TL to have some call backgroun on it. Of course youd could start as a CSA2 or even 3 depending on your experience but I doubt a TL. Unless of course you also served the M&M client at the other call center who also has this account (mas maganda wag ko na sabihin pero its starts with a S). Actually kung nangaling ka nga don matutuwa pa eTel because you dont have to take the Series 6 (for Minnehaha) or Series 7 (Minnetonka) exams which take quite a while plus client specs training can go as long as 3-4 months.
YES! Pay in M&M is higher than XOR and people in M&M are the highest paid agent in the whole eTel (of course given the same rank CSA1 of XOR vs a CSA1 for M&M and like that). This I can attest since I am from M&M.

if you've taken series 6 and 7, then you can join M&M as a CSA :p
it's not like Xmen na nag h-hire ng TLS externally.

You can apply by submitting your resume at the 20th floor Cybermall Building. Or go to JobsDB or Jobstreet.com and search for etel there. You can just apply online as well and they will call you. Since etel really need new people its 100% you will get a call for an interview as for you getting in thats entirely up to you.

what's series 6 and 7?
Series 6 is the Investment Company Limited Representative exam. Meaning people with this liscense can sell only mutual funds, UIT's, and variable annutities. Series 7 is the General Securities Representative exam. This is a superior liscense because you could trade stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other forms of investment companies, annuities and any other securities except futures and commodities. These are sponsored by the NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) and are necessary to broker securities in the United States.....

These are sponsored by the NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) and are necessary to broker securities in the United States.....
as i can see the diff bet minnehaha & minnetonka is the exam passed..am i right?
can you share stress levels in m&m? lets say compared to x-men program..are there lots of tough callers for this account? how about volume of callers? when i was w/ xmen last time, maybe only around 2-5% of my callers were irrate.. how long is the training?

Tidus1203 and Purple_Madness,
1) I want to join M&M as a CSA only, not as a TL. Do I have to get the Series 6 and Series 7 certifications BEFORE entering M&M, or is it part of client specs training?
2) Tidus, you just gave me an idea. Are you saying pwede na ako mag-TL after just 6 months previous Etel experience? Pwede pala yun? :)
3) Purple, what's an ML from Voyager? Is that MULTILINGUAL? You mean they get paid around 28-30k/month, taxes and deductions already not included? So they're the highest paid CSAs. Well, I can't be an ML cuz I don't speak more than a few Spanish and French words, much less form whole paragraphs.
I just dropped by the 20/F of Cybermall (where Etel's HR and Recruitment now is; I recall dati that I applied at the 20/F of CITIBANK TOWER back when Cybermall was still under construction) and gave my letter of intent to be rehired, preferably for M&M.
Kabisado ko na ang securities industry because of my legal background and previous work for an American financial conglomerate where we handled securities and investments law. But that dealt only with the LEGAL side of it, not the actual nitty-gritty of trades, order placements, etc.

Yes you got it right, Minnehaha agents handle mutual funds, insurance and UIT's thus they get the Series 6 exams. Minnetonka theoretically can also conduct on mutual funds, insurance and UIT's since Series 7 exam permits it, however, for the purpose of operations they handle stock, bonds, variable annuties, options brokerage.
Stress Level is low compared to many other programs because M&M clients are normally smart people and are not BOBO. I mean people who invest in stocks must be smart right?? They are rarely irrate, only irrate if the service they receive is slow. Around 70 calls a day averaging 4 minutes a call.
The training lasts 3 months. 1 whole month for studying either for Series 6 or 7 exams, 2 weeks for the Series 63 exams, 1 whole month of client specs...
The good part about M&M (setting biases aside since I am from that program) is that the pay is the best in eTel and this came from our beloved VP Benedict himself. And being part of M&M is like being a part of an elite because the people are few and the people you work with are definitely smart. So I do encourage you to join us here in M&M, Minnetonka specifically! (nahahalata na talaga san akong program) :rotflmao:

You still need to get either Series 6 for Minnehaha or Series 7 for Minnetonka, if you dont have these licsenses, you are not allowed to be in operations. The training for the exams is part of the training. Total traing time is around 3 months, client specs included.
As for TL baka sa ibang program but definitely not in M&M since wala ka namang background in M&M operations.
Thats good na may background ka na sa securities industry maskin papano, pero we focus more on FINANCIAL ADVICE rather than LEGAL ADVICE. Afterall we are not lawyers but financial advisors..... *okay*

just a clarification... 10pm-6am? is lunch break included? if it is you just work 7 hours?
i have no background on stocks so i hope the training is extensive..
how many months (or years?!) does your retention period (bond) cover?
tidus1203
Sep 7, 2005, 04:58 PM
The time is actually 9pm-6am lunch break included na.... and of course the 2 paid 15 minute breaks are also included.
The training is not super extensive to the point you will be an authority in stock trading, however, its good enough to broker stocks.
This is the bad part about M&M, the BOND! Its actually 18 months long because the training is extensive and the licsenses are expensive which the client is going to shoulder.

The bond terms cannot be disclosed pero isa lang masasabi ko MALAKI SYA! The only reason you can be terminated if as usual per company policies two straight quarters failures and of course misbehavior and the stuff the company deems you to be subject to termination. Pero as long as you do your work M&M has one of the best if not the best tenure in the whole company. Afterall you're bonded for 18 months and thats also your protection that for at least 18 months you will have a job.

Ah sa Sales mas mura ang bond. M&M has the inbound bond of P45000 and our exclusive 19 month M&M bond which is monstrous....
Anyway, the certification is just to see if you can speak well over a phone and not crumble.
Well good luck, nakakapagod mag outbound buti na lang di ako napunta dyan. I heard a lot of horror stories regarding clients dropping the phone even before you finish your spills.
About the certification, you might get re-training again pero I have never heard anyone fail the certification training.

kinda confusing.. i thought 18month retention period lang..you mean aside from the inbound bond, there's still m&m exclusive bond? i think you're posted the 130,000 bond before..

tidus1203
Sep 9, 2005, 01:57 PM
Sorry typo lang, yes its 18 months not 19 months. Thats the M&M bond and yeah its P130,000. Its not for someone who just flys from one program to the next you have to be firmly committed to it.
It all depends on your test scores during bootcamp stage. Usually people who pass bootcamp or are very near the passing score (and people are expected to fail bootcamp anyway) will go to Minnetonka for the Series 7 license which is harder and the book thicker. And the rest go to Series 6 or Minnehaha which is easier. Its also need based, but both programs need people anyway....
Oh I am still in training. Stories I heard from operations say that its not SUPER SUPER EXCITING as it can be monotonous however the fact you're an eTel elite (by the way our ID's is different compared to other programs) makes it nice to be part of M&M.
kwaito
Sep 9, 2005, 05:11 PM
cool.. tell me more about the bootcamp? is this your first time in a call center? may finance background ka ba? o kailangan ba may background sa securities?
yeah i think call centers in general are monotonous in nature and this makes me hesitant to work..but if i'll learn a lot in the M&M why not
by the way meron pa rin ba core training like eTel values, american culture & geography, etc? are trainers Abi, Bobby, and Leanne still around?
tidus1203
Sep 9, 2005, 05:46 PM
The bootcamp is unique to M&M. Normally if you get hired in eTel you undergo the foundations traing (training in US culture, speaking, handling calls etc...), but if you're an M&M candidate before you take the foundations training you first have to undergo a bootcamp. The bootcamp will measure if you have the cut to go to M&M. If you score miserably (like 30%-40%) you might not be able to enter M&M and this is a self-study bootcamp. Meaning, they will give you reading materials regarding securities (if I remember stocks, debt securities, investment banking, mutual funds). Basically ONE TOPIC per ay and the next day you will get a quiz. Then the average of your 4 quizzes will determine if you get into Minnehaha (grades above 40% but below 70%) and Minnetonka (pasado) OR NOT AT ALL (BELOW 40%). But this is not always the case, they also take into consideration your wants and their needs.
For me yeah its the 1st time for me in a call center, but I do have securities background afterall I work as a bond trader for Chinabank previous to this employment with eTel.
The good thing about M&M is THIS IS THE SECURITIES BUSINESS. Sure you can be good at computers assisting DELL COSTUMERS but this program makes you learn trading and definitely you can do it for your own account and make yourself some money in the process. The thing is you're dealing with the US securities business which is quite different on how the Philippine securities business work. But the good news the US securities business is WAY MATURE than ours so you will defnitely learn a lot. WORTH IT if you wanna trade equities and debt securities in the future.
If you're a new hire yes may foundations pa provided you pass the bootcamp as I stated above.

If you hate studying then dont go to M&M nalang, it will do you no good. Studious behavior is necessary to pass the Series 7 with flying colors.

Great news! Yesterday, an HR girl called me and told me that I was readmitted to Etel (I worked with the XOR account back in 2003), and as I requested, they would be placing me in M&M.
As a law school graduate from UP, I am unfazed by studying for Series 6 and 7 examinations. I've been studying (both at work and in law school; legal work is 80% studying and 20% dealing with clients) for about 10 years now.
Tidus, the HR girl told me I'm exempted from Corp Foundation Skills because I already took the stuff as a CSA for XOR in 2003. She also advised me about the 2 bonds you mentioned--1 for Etelecare, 1 for the client kasi nga they will shoulder the licensing fees and expenses.
Di ba meron ding training sa US mismo? How does that occur?
Tidus, is the 2,000 pesos additional allowance per month for passing the Series 6 and 7 exams given for BOTH series, or for EACH series? What I mean is, do I get 4,000 pesos additional allowance if I pass BOTH series 6 AND 7?:) kaching! kaching! (tunog ng cash register)
Since I already know basically the theory behind securities and the rules regulating trading in it, familiar and hindi Greek sa akin for sure ang mga study materials for M&M. As Tidus said, my training is only the legal aspect, so this time, I'm excited cuz I'm gonna learn how to actually place orders and trade! :)

Hi Brandon 96. Well thats nice to hear that you were accepted for M&M. We probably need around 30 more people....
While law is important in the securities industry, it is proven that in class people who have business degrees excel more cause its more on the technichals (yields, P/E ratio, call and put options things that investor really care about etc.) than the laws. In fact IMO laws limit investor earnings, DAMN LAWS! Pero kailangan din yon for protection kasi madaming anumalya sa securities industry if laws are not firm.
There is NO TRAINING in the US, they used to have to but now the training is in Manila kasi may mga tao na sa eTel qualified to teach Series 6 and 7. Gone are the days of going to the US for training I am afraid.
There is 2 bonds as you mentioned one is eTel bond which is P45000 good for 6 months and the M&M bond of P130,000 for 18 months. Its heavy, but if you're committed to it I see no problem.
No the P2000/month is just for passing either, you won't be taking BOTH only ONE. So kung Minnehaha ka Series 6 kukunin mo if Minnetonka Series 7 kukunin mo. Well good luck to you!

Marami bang chicks sa M&M? :)
P/E ratios, put and call options, etc.--stuff I always wanted to learn so I can do trading myself in the near future. I hope we will be taught not just to take and place orders, but how to understand the markets as well as to be able to invest for our own accounts if we wanted to. Magandang skill ito should one migrate to the US, pwede nang magwork sa different securities markets doon!

Madami pare! May mga bakla at tibo din!
Pwede mong gamitin ito sa US within two years after resigning from eTel kasi 2 years lang duration nyan if you leave a NASD member firm (in our case American Express Financial Advisor). You could prbably use the things you learn here for your own account, pero syempre may sariling research din yan. Good buys and right timing are never thought in class its all self-study. And thats what seprates the MAN from the BOYS in the world of investing...

It depends on the rank. CSA1-4?? TL?? But rest assured M&M is the highest paid in eTel (provided that rank is the same) because of the premiums (passing the exam, being a license holder) and the 100% night diff as long as you stay there....

When I was at XOR, the basic salary was 12k, plus 3k night travel allowance (I sure hope this allowance is paid out even during training, before we get to do night shifts), plus 30% night differential (which, quantified, amounts to almost 3k, if I'm correct). So my total takehome pay (net of taxes and all deductions) back then was 16-17k a month.
Does this mean the only advantage M&M CSA1 agents have is the 2k premium for passing the licensure exams? Does this mean that during the 3 months of training I get only 16-17k? :(
Sana mas malaki ang basic salary ng CSA1 sa M&M! SANA!

It's pretty challenging..... But it all depends on your relative experience and knowhow in finance. OK Tidus, let me be more specific for basketbabe--how much is the basic salary for CSA 1 in M&M, excluding night diff, travel allowance, and premium pay for passing the licensure exams?
When I was an XOR agent, my total takehome pay per month was 16-17k (depending kung nightshift o hindi). Kasama na dun ang night diff and travel allowance na 3k. Thus, the basic salary was only 12k.
I hope the basic salary for M&M CSA1 agents is not 12k or 13k, but at least 15k. Mas maganda kung 16k (hehehe! kaching! kaching! tunog ng cash register ) :D
Per company policy CSA1 get P12,000 basic.... Flat out basic even for M&M. Bawi lang M&M sa benefits kaya they are paid higher....
Here is M&M's Gross Pay = P12,000(basic pay) + P3000(transpo allowance) + P2000(for being a license holder) + P4000(roughly 30% of P12000 for night diff) = P21,000/month subject to tax. Dahil sa tax isipin mong wala ka nalang allowance so around neto ko in a month mga P18k.....
CSA1 PO YAN HA! CSA2 mas malaki kasi the 30% is adjusted on their basic which is P15,000....

Does this mean that even during the early part of M&M training (during the daytime), prior to the client-specific portion which is done during the night shift daw, you will get the full salary INCLUDING the nightly travel allowance AND the night differential? Yeah if Series 6 ka at morning yung training mo (take note: Series 7 peeps have their training at night so they get the night diff na) then wala ka pang night diff... Of course la ka pang license premium kasi nasa training ka pa. So salary is like as if you're a regular CSA1 employee. But you get the transpo allowance regardless so thats 15k gross where 3k is non-taxable.

to stepehenyan@12:
Well I do understand how you feel about this issue, but it is part of maintaining the quality of service provided to the client's customers. Even if such person passed the hiring process of the company, it doesn't end there. This is applicable not only in eTel but with other call centers as well. Wherein, they either randomly call the customers back or send them an email survey pertaining to their most recent experience with the service provided by the company.
Although it is true that some customers do tell lies IF they really hate the company so bad that they didn't know it is affecting the employment status of the representative, it is still the representative's responsibility to correct that wrong impression towards the company. This is the main reason why we are called Technical/Customer CARE Representatives.
We represent the company...
I hope this enlightens not only you but the rest of the contact center agents reading my post.

i worked for etel before.... sa dell account ako... simula dec 2004 biglang hirap ng metrics... napaka strict nila kasi demanding daw ang dell.. well ok lang naman yun kasi etell is charging dell a premium .... pero yes unfair yun sa mga agents kasi dami ang natanggal na seasoned agents... tapos they kept on hiring new agents... pero there lies the problem...paano kaya mapapataas ng new agents yung metrics eh di pa nga alam ng new agents yung ins and outs ng dell systems... at nung time na umalis ako...magulo na... ang mga TL at L2's ay nag take in ng calls and mas marami p ang seasoned agents n umalis .... well as of now news ko...until november n lang ang dell account sa etel... kasi as posted in some other threads... may inhouse call center n ang dell dito...

hey narutrix, nice to hear your input. anyways im with ETEL-CTS.. yes we already know theyre pulling out but im not sure when exactly... whre did you get that info until november nalang? (im sure CTS yan). kasi for me here, i havent heard a confirmation date. As for my part, when DELL announced theyle be leaving, twas one of my happiest days in etel to be honest, pinaharipan nila ang metrics for no reason at all. daming natanngal dahil dito... narutrix.. keep us updated ayt!

Although I am not from Matrix, sa M&M ako, I heard na yung CTS (consumer accounts) hanggang February na lang yan at eTel mismo nagdecide na they dont want CTS anymore kasi nga sobrang demanding. It showns naman at least that eTel cares na din for its agents.... As for ACS (corporate accounts and the only one of its kind in the Philippines) its here to stay.

Tidus1203,
Tapos na ang bootcamp and so far konti lang ang naalis and nilipat sa ibang programs na bago sa Etelecare (mostly kusang umalis kasi nahirapan sa studying). Training for Series 6 and 7 starts Monday, nightshift na kami. When we report for work sa Monday don pa lang malalaman kung Series 6 or 7 ang i-aassign to each of us, based saw on our profiles and our quiz scores. Based on my scores and profile, malamang sa Series 7 ako. Kelan ka nahire? Ako Sept. 21 (so either Wave 6 kami ng Minnehaha or Wave 7 ng Minnetonka, kung saan man iassign ang bawat isa).
Kwaito,
I doubt they're pulling out kasi ang balita ko sa Sykes sila nagbabawas ng tao since they're moving more operations to Etel. :) Mga 100 agents daw kelangan ng Etelecare.

BTW, it wasn't as hard as studying law. Total number of pages read in 3 days couldn't have been more than 200. Plus the fact that chapter 1 was 'sisiw' kasi I studied corporation law and securities regulation in law school (both US and Pinoy, for comparison purposes).
Kwaito,

Dearborn is even thicker pero IMO the better reference than Bisys.
No they are not pulling out, its just that malapit na mapuno ang requirements and I heard may iba mga buffer na lang just in case some of us fail the actual Series 7 exam. No news ako sa Series 6 kasi taga 'Tonka ako.
This coming week puro na kami comprehensive exam until this Thursday kasi Friday off kami to get a rest for the Saturday BIG EXAM at Traders Hotel.

Quite the contrary. As far as I know we were able to snatch some seats from Sykes thats why M&M is ramping up. Etelcare charges higher premiums than Sykes so nagthreaten nga yung AMEX Financial Advisor to pull out kasi mas mura ang charge ng Sykes, pero eTelecare convinced AMEX that they have better quality in terms of metrics than Sykes. AMEX saw the point and was convinced to go for quality rather than price....

As a former Team Leader at eTelecare, I would like to congratulate eTelecare Global Solutions for winning the Employer of the Year award from the Personnel Management Association of the Philippiines (PMAP).
My hats off to my fellow leaders, agents and employees there who stuck it out in the midst of different crises and greener opportunities the abound in the call center industry.
There is really no place like home.
Call center named Employer of the Year

CEBU CITY -- eTelecare Global Solutions' belief in the potential of the Filipino worker helped the company win the Employer of the Year award from the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
The award "validates our core belief that if we treat our people right, we will reap many rewards," Fred Ayala, chair of eTelecare, said Thursday in his acceptance speech at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
"From day one, we have made our people our top priority, and made investing in human capital a fundamental part of our strategy," he said.
PMAP's Employer of the Year award is given to the organization that shows commitment to the development of its most-prized asset -- human resources.
The award gains more importance when one considers that eTelecare is a young company, just 5 years old, compared with other awardees, many of which are a century old, according to Ayala.
eTelecare, which started operations in 2000, now has more than 7,000 employees. Its annual revenue has grown from zero in 2000 to P6.9 billion last year.
Ayala said the award would enable eTelecare to correct misconceptions about jobs in the call center industry.
"Many people think that a call center job is a well-paying but dead-end job as a telephone operator. They do not realize how complex the work is. Our people are actually financial, technical and language specialists who happen to use a phone to communicate," Ayala said.
He attributed eTelecare's success to its strategy of empowering its employees.
The company invests heavily in talent development and retention, including a comprehensive leadership development program and supplemental training.
eTelecare also guarantees an hour of coaching for each agent on a weekly basis.
In addition, the company allows employees' participation in company decision-making, even in the design of new call centers.
"We have built day care centers, resting lounges, game rooms and a musical band room as a result of their suggestions. We hold weekly town hall meetings at every site where everyone has a chance to dialogue with the site director," Ayala said.
This strategy, he said, resulted in a strong sense of ownership among employees, better performance and productivity.
He cited the case of Arlene Acleta, a physical therapist who thought of working at eTelecare as an agent for just a year to get a break from her job.
To her surprise, Acleta said she realized that she wanted to stay on at the company.
In 2002, she was recognized as the best Call Center Agent in the world by Call Center Magazine, the largest trade publication worldwide, in its Customer Care Leadership Awards.
She won over 200 candidates, mostly from the United States, and was the only Asian to win this award, according to Ayala.
She has been promoted eight times over the past four years and her compensation has increased six-fold.
Acleta mentioned the fulfillment she felt when the people under her were promoted. "It is fulfilling to look at teammates go up the ladder."
Ayala said Acleta had since learned management skills and had just been promoted to operations manager in training, in charge of a complex program for a Fortune 100 company that will require 500 agents next year.
Benedict Hernandez, eTelecare vice president and general manager of Philippine operations, noted that the industry manpower requirement was quite high.
"The industry is hiring about 3,000 agents a month, at least 300 supervisors and 30 managers," Hernandez pointed out.
This rate of hiring could not be seen in any other industry, he said.

Congratulations to eTelecare Global Solutions for this award!
This was the only company in the call center industry that I worked for. It was my choice, I felt nothing will ever come close to eTelecare. I now work for a leading IT technology solutions provider in the world, I think my leadership skills, work ethics, attitudes and other competencies, I owe it all to how eTelecare has moulded and shaped me.
From our first office at the 20th floor of the Citibank Square in Eastwood, Libis, it expanded to sites in Makati, a second one in Eastwood, Cebu and all across the US as they merged with another call center. I'm so happy about all the success that eTelecare Global Solutions has achieved in a short span of time (5 years). eTelecare will always be my company of choice. With the 3 years of my stay with them, I can say that I truly have earned my mark.

I think this concerns you! I heard that DELL is pissed with the TSR here in the Philippines coz some of the customers when they do get in touch with the agents the customer would be put on hold or would be escalated to a level2 do you think that's the main reason DELL built there own in house callcenter any reactions.

Some of us undergoing training in M&M at CC3 got our ATM cards at the 20/F Megaworld Cybermall from one of the girls at eCare. One of my teammates was instantly smitten by this quite voluptuous chinky-eyed girl with long hair and a soft voice. *okay*

WARNING: This is sort of like a blog post hehehe...
To be frank about it, M&M isn't so much of a big deal. Considering the amount of studying one does, the premium of 2k should be nontaxable and should even be doubled to 4k. If multilingual CSA1s can get 25k nontaxable as premium in addition to their 12k monthly basic and 30% night diff and 3k travel allowance, I don't see why they can't guarantee a CSA1 at least 20k-22k in NET takehome pay, lalo na pag Series 7 (Minnetonka) ang CSA1. I mean 2k na nga lang, taxable pa! Arrgh! Medyo lugi pa ako kasi sa previous job ko I was making 26k gross (20k net takehome), tapos related pa sa inaral ko. So why did I take this job? Frankly, I reapplied to Etelecare because I was waiting for a very good job offer and was simply expecting to be assigned to Rolex or Voyager, until they placed me in M&M which was ramping up at the time. Again, frankly, I was given the impression that the M&M bond would apply only when training ends and operations work begins (which meant that I was free to transfer to other Etel programs even while training for the licensure exams). But when I spoke with our OM she said they didn't want to let me go as it was hard enough to get agents for the program. Our trainer said that I was least likely nga to be allowed to leave because of my legal background (prize catch ika nga). Sure, I signed up for this job, but I sense a little maneuvering and lack of good faith.
My legal background helped a lot especially in the area of Variable Annuities, Municipals, IRAs and other retirement plans, and especially in Equities and Mutual Funds. I bet SROs will be a walk in the park considering that my law school elective in Securities REGULATION and my previous job at PBCom (not a call center) involved precisely such matters. Predictably, my waterloo would be Margins and Options (damn those numbers!).
And to be honest about it again, I am apprehensive about the 18 month M&M bond. For would-be call center agents who are not expecting to work elsewhere soon, the 18 month bond is a godsend. For people who go to call centers simply to spend their time gainfully while waiting for a visa, appointment to an office, or a very lucrative job offer, it's honestly a significant hassle. That said, I feel that M&M's apparent privileges are evened out by the walk-in-the-park experience I had at X-Men (and I can imagine, for Voyager and Rolex, with whom we shared station bays or quadrants). I don't care for weekends off--I honestly enjoy working on weekends and holidays because I get to avoid boring parties with relatives. (Whatever it is I do on weekends, I also get to do them on weekdays off, except for going to church, of course!) And I don't care for permanent workstations because back at X-Men you knew everyone and everyone knew you and work was FUN (bakasyon grande nga eh for me, for 6 months). It was work that you forget about when you log off in the morning, and work hours felt just like hanging out in a college tambayan at UP.
As for M&M training itself, I honestly believe Etel should seriously consider the Sykes approach to preparing agents for the Series 6 and 7 licensure exams. A sense of pride that we train in a month what Sykes trains in 2 months is false, considering their higher scores and passing averages. Thus, training must be lengthened to at least 1.5 months and begin not with BootCamp, but rather with Corp Foundation Skills so that the agent's first memories and impressions of the program will not be hellish, but rather fun days which he will carry with him for the rest of his stay at the company. I mean, hey, I'm done with law school--I don't exactly relish the idea of having to wake up again JUST TO read lots of pages and rationing sleep hours in order to have enough time to, uh, read lots of pages.
Sounds bitter? I warned you, this is sort of like a blog post.
tidus1203
Oct 16, 2005, 05:04 PM
1.5 months of training is too long, ganon din opinion ko but given that the company needs people at the floor immediately I dont think they can even waste a day or two.
I too am dissapointed with the pay premium for M&M pero I am more after the license kasi eh.... Maybe with this I can finally fulfill my ambition of being an exchange broker or an equities trader in Hong Kong or better yet New York.
The weekends off IMO is the bomb, while we don't agree with it I certainly enjoy it para enjoy ko din mga gimmicks ko with friends who work for banks since off din sila during those days. Our permanent shift is also a +.
IMO ang mali ni Ron dapat tinuro nya sa inyo yung SRO's first tapos Munis, tapos Debt Securities kasi this 3 is heavily tested on the actual exam. Ihuli na yung Investment Company's, Economics, and DPP's.
Well good luck sa inyo in your exam. Damn 3 samin naka 69 sayang talaga!!! Pero I am happy yung 78% ko 3rd place na pala yun, apparently not everyone got great scores.
Brandon96
Oct 16, 2005, 05:14 PM
Ah, yes, the permanent shifts ranging from 8pm-1130pm and ending from 430am-8am. We get the full range of SEVEN night diff hours per worknight! That's one of the good things here at M&M. :) Sa ibang programs, the maximum would be 6 hours night diff. Considering that M&M lunchtime (30 mins) is paid kasi less than 1 hour, it gets paid night diff unlike other programs where the 1-hour lunch is not considered worktime and hence has no night diff pay. Tapos meron pang OT time na 30 minutes built into each shift! Swerte ng mga 8pm-430pm and 9pm-530am kasi OT na nga, night diff pa! Tapos Etelecare HONESTLY pays the best night diff rates in this industry--30% (not something to sneeze at). That's P3,600 night diff per month. :)

Oct 16, 2005, 05:42 PM
Yeah thats more or less free 15 hour OT pay every month for us M&M agents due to that 30min lunch break.

Ron told us that some Waves before his studied for the Series 6 and 7 exams within an allotted time span of 2 months! He said management is currently considering upping the premium for Minnetonka and extending the time span for studying. It was only in his Wave that Etelecare standardized the time frame to last for just 4 weeks. He noted that since his Wave, the passing average has been steadily declining. I prefer to think of it as a manifestation of the Law of Diminishing Returns, or, in layman's term, killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Oct 25, 2005, 02:33 PM
I like the part that they are considering upping the premium for 'tonka. My take on time is its enough naman. Maybe an additional week is good but 2 months is overkill to be honest. Nasa tao na yon kung papasa sya. May mga batchmates kasi akong tamad...

2 months is not overkill, because not everyone was a trader as you were, Tidus. Not everyone is an accountant, either. IMO the training for the licensure exam is like taking non-law graduates and making them review for the bar exams in 4-5 months and then making them take the Bar exams. Naturally, the law students/grads will take the upper hand. In the case of Series 7, it will be the traders and accounting grads/students who will get good scores.
Let me correct my previous post. Ron said it was THREE FULL months, not just 2 months. :naughty:
I believe 2 months is optimal, because we need more time to study. As it is, anything we learned is mostly short-term memory since we go to sleep (for less than 6hrs on average) and wake up to study. And the pace of study is not even optimal--it's cramming. Cramming for 4 weeks. Not good for retention and maximal understanding. 2 months is still short for those who are really lazy but optimal for those who want to understand fully what they're studying and absorb it maximally.
tidus1203

Well enough or not enough the law of NO CHOICE applies. Even our client spec training is just for 3 weeks than the usual 4 weeks thats how much they need people on the floor....
Brandon96
Oct 29, 2005, 03:28 AM
Laws are meant to be changed, and evolution requires constant self-critiquing. Nothing is sacred, no sacred cows should exist if one will want to grow. And this applies even to organizations.
And BTW, we were told that management was INDEED considering lengthening the training period.
'Having enough people on the floor' is not a sacred mantra when in reality we know that the urgency isn't that URGENT considering that they let people take the S6 and S7 exams twice and even thrice. Where's the urgency there? If the urgency was indeed existent, they would have been more creative in recruitment, such as upping the premium and making the sign-in bonus a standard recruiting sweetener for BA and Econ and MFI and CPA grads. They would have pirated traders from PSE and other people with knowledge of the American financial markets. The way I see it, getting people on the floor ASAP is just the standard Etelecare pa-bibo sa client strategy and not at all a real urgency as it is often said to be. Having been in Etelecare before, I know this from experience.
tidus1203
Oct 29, 2005, 07:06 AM
Ayaw ko na makipag argue about this go complain to Wendy or something.... Basta ako sunod na ako sa LAW OF NO CHOICE. Just like a force leave, this one is kinda like that.
As for letting people retake the exam of course they will. Than getting an entirely new person to take the exam for the 1st time the chances of success by 2nd takers are far greater. And those licenses are MANDATORY to take in calls so stuck na ang eTel regardless. They will have a VERY HARD TIME convincing people from the industry to go to eTel. Believe me no one in the securities industry will stoop down to being agents. Mas masarap talaga mag benta ng securities mas malaki din ang pay. Lintik lang yung quota kaya ako umalis...
To the lighter side of things, good luck to you guys taking the exam tomorrow. Lumabas na yung Series 63 results ng batch namin for some people as before ako nanaman yung isa sa mga wala pang resultang lumabas. Pero dont care failing Series 63 kasi by passing Series 7 assured na ako sa Minnetonka. At least another 2 weeks of petiks mode...

I took a look at the other Series 6 people who were taking it for the 2nd time and realized that, uh, retaking the Series 6 or 7 exams isn't too bad after all. Hence, I am now quite stoic about passing or failing Series 7. I will admit, I didn't really study options contracts and I still think it should be given at least 3 days of fulltime reading for those with no actual background in securities trading.
Good luck to all of us! Masaya sigurado sa floor, kasi marami tayo tapos kasama natin ang X-Men (the easiest program of FCSBU and the one with the most babes, during peak season that is!). CC1 (Citibank) might be closing down by March 2006, which means all CC1 programs will be consolidated at CC3.
Petiks mode ang pag-aaral for Series 63? YES! :D :D *okay* I'll have my life back!

Well yeah the next 2 weeks should be very relaxing for you guys, I should know.... Masaya yang Series 63 na yan napakadali.
As for us baka makatikim pa kami sa CC1 since we are going to phone lab and take calls for the 1st time in 2 weeks, hopefully not next week...
Pero you feel confident naman about your Series 7?? Kasi if you feel confident more or less pasado ka kung may doubts ka you can still pass. Pero if masama pakiramdam mo malamang masama din yan, ganon kasi na feel ko atsaka nang mga batchmates ko. Yung mga pumasa had more positive feeling some had doubts pero not as doubtful as the one who failed...

ay salamat tapos na rin ang exam!!!! Madali lang pala ang SERIES 6. Nung nag-eexam nga ako parang practice exam lang sya ni Bisys at Dearborn. I asked myself during the exam: "Eto na ba yun??". Para kasing super hirap ng review tapos yung exam basics lang. Pero thankful ako sa review kasi super dami kong natutunan. Sana pumasa kami lahat sa WAVE 7. I am confident na 100% passing kami!!!!

The results for Series 6 and 7 exams came out yesterday. 3 names were given for Series 6, only 1 of them passed. Sa amin sa Series 7, 3 names were also given, and all 3 of us passed! We're still waiting for the scores of the 6 others in Series 7. Sana lahat pasado!

hi just wanted to ask this, a while ago i had my interview in etel pbcom branch. the interviewer told me that i passed. based on the role play exam, he seems to think that i have a call center experience but to tell you honestly, i don't have. i'm still 4th yr college. he told me that the role play exam for CSR and Sales rep is suitable for me because we had a very smooth conversation. afterwards, he told me that all the slots for CSR and Sales are already occupied, so etel will be hiring for the first first-quarter next year (most likely by january), he told me also that he will be putting my application in their active file for the next yr employment. he said that if etel will gonna call me again, there's no need for me to take the exams, simulation phone calls etc... i just do need to undergo the last interview for the signing of the contract..
my questions guys are like these:
1. will i still expect something good fom etel? like i heard that words again "we will put your application in an active file" that sounds more hopeless for me.
2. is that the way HR of etel screen undergrads?
3. are their vacancies really occupied or it is just the way of saying "sorry you didn't make it" to the applicant.
any comments, answers to these will be greatly appreciated especially etel applicants.. thanks.

No I think if they say on active file it means ok ka... Kung baga pooling lang talaga kasi puno na yung requirements nila. Hmm... no wonder di nainoofer yung big recruitment bonuses offered like 3 months ago.
Hmm... more likely sa sales ka ilagay (you did mention you're an undergrad). If that's ok with you go ahead man. Their fixed income is lower than inbound agents but they have commissions that inbound agents don't have.

asked hr friends from pbcom kanina.
(1) wala ng opening for sales and customer service. technical support na lang. that's why you're being placed in the active file. the "regret spiel" is something like "we will further evaluate *** ******* .. if you ***, we will call you within *** *** or give us until ******. if you did not receive ********, it means that we ******* ************ another *******who's more **** for the *****."
(2) hr policy for undergrads: at least 3rd year college, for cust service and sales only, not for tech support and 1 finance program.
(3) vacancies for sales & cust service next month.
mapapalo na naman ako ng hr for posting things like these :bop:

Extensive interview, usually lasts for about 30 mins... then either he/she will be forwarding you to a phone simulation exam or to take the english communication skills enrichment something..hehehe then if you pass the phone simulation, they'll ask you to wait for 20 mins and give you the contract there if not then they will tell you that they'll be calling you in 2 days (as if they will)....

hi
I'm with eTel for over a year now and this is my very first call center experience. I was with TSBU before and transferred to FCSBU now, specifically Matrix and Bulldog.
Tech training is fun and at the same time taxing. Especially if you're into the Dell Client Specific training, I mean, it was like 2 months of training before going to operations so you could just imagine how information overload you could have. But of course, after the training, you'd develop the camaraderie with your wavemates and all that, so that's really a good thing. I could say, based from my experience, the Dell Tech training was tougher than my Bulldog training if you're going to base it on the length of training because my Bulldog training lasted only for 2 weeks but still it has the same scope, you know though it caters to 2 different things.:D
but really, it's fun! heheh
and I could say, lesser irate callers than customer service hehehhe*peace*

did anyone got a job offer for tsr this week? I believe that they have a hiring bonus of 20k if u get hired this week and then start training on april 10. I think it's just a ploy to attract more applicants. What they will give you is actually a soft skills training for 150 pesos per day for five days.even if u sign the soft skills training, it's not even a guarantee that u will be hired. correct me if im wrong, is this a scam or something or did anybody got a signing bonus before.
even in- house call centers like hsbc, jpmorganchase, citibank and dell don't have a 20k signing bonus for agents and to think etel is just an outsource call center. im really confuse.

After I was interviewed at eTel (in Libis) I overheard this girl talking to a male colleage. Her name's Patty. Basta she was talking really off about applicants, mocking one who didn't show up for an exam. She said the word pathetic at least 10,000 times. She was grumbling about how there aren't too much good ones. Her coworker retorts in accord, "Oo nga, daming incompetent. Pathetic (He said pathetic only at least 5000 times). Give me naman mga okay ones. I want those from good universities ha."
By the way, we were in a descending elevator, at least five of us applicants were there to hear their babbling in disgust. All of us applicants were looking plainly at each other.

Let me share this story when I had my interview at E-telecare. The one who conducted the interview was okay naman except that she doesn't smile. In my opinion, she was not reaching out or trying to build rapport with me. I think our personalities clashed the entire duration of the interview. It's like she was insisting on this thing, I was insisting on another. Most notable of which was the issue of location. I asserted that I really prefer Makati, even with training. However, she told me that there will also be training in Libis. And she added, "that's the first thing we will teach you here. Flexibility." Sa akin naman, flexibility is not taught. It is learned. Basta ayun parang nagkokontrahan kami sa interview kaya I was wondering why I was endorsed to the phone simulation stage. Siguro nga dahil talagang klaro naman lahat ng sinabi ko in English kaya kahit na halos di kami nagkakasundo, eh inendorse pa rin nya ako.
During the phone simulation naman, the guy was nice and was actually giving tips. But the nicest person I've encountered with in E-telecare PBCom is the HR Supervisor (I don't know her exact position, basta, she was the one who gave me the contract). I really have qualms training in far-away Libis so I did not sign the offer. I asked her if I can come back on Monday because I had to confer the contract with my Dad, and she gave me an affirmative response with matching encouraging words. She's really an asset to E-telecare, IMHO.
'Yun lang.

Anyway, if you're an HR person, you should learn how to be nice. You can start by at least letting the elevator descend, then trash the applicants. We'd appreciate that. Speaking of being pathetic, I'll try to be fair but that Patty girl looks like crap.

hans_mit1995, nope. I am not from E-telecare. I was just offered a contract but I did not sign it. Based from what I know and heard about, the communication workshop is aimed to improve your English-speaking ability. Once you're done with it, either they will endorse you to E-telecare or not. If you are luckily endorsed, you will go through the same process (interview, phone simulation). That's what I know and what I know may not be true at all.

I didn't ger her name, but, she was very, very nice. Unfortunately, I did not sign the contract because of the location reason alone.

ooh-la-la, yung written examination nila consists of three parts. The first one is the IQ test (which was easy and I was wondering why a lot failed), while the second and third exams are computer and Internet related (somebody said that these tests have no bearing). If you pass, you will be scheduled for an interview. The final stage is phone simulation and after passing it, job offer.

Starting ng TSR 12k + 3k allowance.... Kapag mag undergo ka ng communication skills (PET), just make sure you'll pass the assessment at the 5th day, kasi sabi nung kasabay ko sa training na nag undergo ng PET, mga 50% lang ang kinuha sa kanila....

alam nyo ba ang application processing ng ETelecare sa makati? kasi i had my final interview na yung fone simulation.. 2 sets yun.. yung isa i will take orders (sales) and yung isa telemarketer ka.. after each test ininterview ka.. and sa last call simulation nagtanong na lang siya about sa resume ko. and he told me that he will call me na lang daw 1-2 days kasi they will just evaluate my application first. ibig sabihin ba nun hindi na ako tanggap???

How much do they give for experienced Technical Support Reps?
Does anyone know if they give extra to experienced tech supports?
