I know some people who are applying to URC, some were impressed on how fast they worked in processing applications. Any PExers who work in URC?

What can you say about the culture in URC? It's owned by the Gokongweis, how are they as bosses?

are u applying for a marketing position? if you do, they have really good training there coz they make you an all-around person. culture? most people there are in the 20's bracket so it's just like you're in college. salary? competitive but the benefits sucks. office? it sucks too coz of the old building and unsanitary canteen but at least you dont have to pay parking.

i applied at URC b4 but I turned it down because you are required to go to provincial areas from time to time. Quite dangerous eh.

Leigh: no, as i recall, they let you take the exam first before you are scheduled for an interview.

Lianne: no thanks, i dont want to be sent off to the provinces all by myself...we're talking abt remote areas! it was last 1999 pa when i applied. now m married na and have a kid so kinda housewife, and engage in small business. :)

cookiemonster, i know someone who was interviewed first before taking the exam. Can you tell us more about the details of the exam? the hrd of URC told me that it's a whole day exam....ganun? mas mahaba pa siya sa P&G?

Leigh
Aug 20, 2001, 10:44 PM
VinceSanity, it's Universal Robina Corporation. The company that owns Jack and Jill, Cloud 9 and Yaki Soba and others :)

cookiemonster, one of my friends recently went to URC and had the interview first, she was then asked to go back to take the exam.

I'm working there right now.

Good training ground for fresh grad, esp. if you want to pursue a career in marketing.

Sobrang toxic nga lang. Instead of 9-6 working hours, what you get is 8-6:30 hours of work. There are a lot of young people working there and most of them are really friendly, so it's a pretty good environment.

Good luck.

thanks for the comment. ;)

meron pa akong questions if you don't mind.

may work ba kayo pag saturday?
ok ba ang sales career jan?
ok ba maging sales rep or key accounts specialist jan?

last....may hiring ba kayo?

thank you! :D

correct me if i'm wrong pero sobrang kuripot daw mag-sweldo jan...my friend left na for a bigger company...that was the only time na urc said they were going to offer her the same...

thanks!

my brother's fiance works there (advertising/marketing dept i think)..she said the salary is ok naman..and what i like about her job is that..LAGING MADAMING LIBRENG FOOD PRODUCTS! lagi cyang may pasalubong na urc products samen particularly jack&jill snacks etc..lolz...:p

AnGeLJoLi

It's not that low and not that high either. If you're a fresh grad, I guess you'd be contented with their offer. Though in terms of experience, you'd definitely gain a lot.

may work ba kayo pag saturday?
nope

ok ba ang sales career jan?
I think so. They don't usually hire fresh grads for this position. Internal ang pagpasok sa sales dept, as far as I know.

commissions, usual benefits of sales people

In what brand? Confec? Snacks? Biscuits? etc...

my brother's fiance works there (advertising/marketing dept i think)..
who? PM kung sino. Heheh. We don't have any advertising arm in this company, we usually course it through the different ad agencies. =)

LAGING MADAMING LIBRENG FOOD PRODUCTS
True, kaya nga nagtatabaan mga tao dito.

Gokongwei Companies... good for training ground. If you remain loyal to them, maybe it will benefit you in the future. can't say in the near future kase matagal ang pag-usad for higher opportunities eh. if you work in Libis, your work sched will be Mon to Friday, 8am to 6:30 pm. At least walang Saturday.

teka... i used to work not for URC but for DIGITEL. anyway, under one owner, same starting salary offer, same benefits(?), same company policies.

In fairness, i liked the environment in Libis. Most employees there (DIGITEL & URC) are friendly. maybe because majority are yuppies and still, most are newly grads. When you're there, do good and learn how you can improve your "status" in the company.

:)

Maybe for Digitel. But working in URC for a year, I can say the salary is competitive enough for a fresh grad. Most especially if you're in the marketing department.

Ah..sa TMG ka. That's a challenging position. More on store-to-store operations ang gagawin mo. Actually, the position is more related to consumer promotions, not on the advertising side (kasi sa aming department yung..heheh). Yun nga lang, the office is a bit far. TMG is assigned in Rosario, not in URC's main office.

diaperfanny
Jun 23, 2004, 05:11 PM
yah i know, for me kasi ganun narin un, promotions=advertising, the same thinking process... sana matanggap ako! haha

oo nga daw sa Rosario *** office... ano kaya hitsura nung office nila dun?

AnGeLJoLi
Jun 24, 2004, 06:38 AM
The office is inside a big warehouse. Actually, if you're particular to the location and the appearance of the office, you'll definitely be turned off. The office is beside the merchandising and manufacturing warehouses. But don't worry, training-wise, URC is one of the best companies.

Goodluck! I hope you'll get in.

i was interviewed then they told me theyd call after a week. 3 weeks na... so i guess di ako na tanggap? i called din kasi after the week they said theyd call pero sabi nila tawagan nalang daw ako. hindi ba sila nagcocall back pag di natanggap ang isang applicant unlike GMA na call back parin kahit na rejected?

AnGeLJoLi
Jul 6, 2004, 07:23 PM
^^^

Not exactly. Due tons of applications URC receives everyday, they tend to forget to follow-up pending applications. Like in my case, I took the exam and had my 1st interview on the first day. They said they will call me after a week. They didn't, so I followed it up. I was given another round of interview and eventually, hired. What position are you applying for? Who's your contact person in the HR dept? I know some people in that department so maybe I could help you out. :)

Jul 9, 2004, 03:28 PM

unfortunately, URC doesn't hire any more fresh grads for key positions of Sales and Marketing, particularly Brand Marketing. Exception may be if you're really top of the class..

The pay for Brand Assistant is pretty good.
