To all concerned,
I am writing to anyone who may have concern over employees
who are opressed of their rights in the offices.
My friend had just started her first day of job last Wednesday,
Nov 13,2001 from a small private company in Ortigas.
1. The name of the firm is STARGAZER@.com. located at suite 2602
Jolibee Plaza Bldg, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas. From what i have
learned, it is just a newly established company, much like of an
MLM (multi-level marketing), with examples such as DXN,
Amway, forever living and others.
2. The office workforce is composed of a Korean chairman, Mr. Lee,
a President, named "Jhong", two speakers named "george"
and "honey" , a personal secretary of the korean named Thelma,
and two(2) clerk in which one is my friend.
3.There are a lot of flaws or should i say illegal practices in the office that i have noticed, and sadly ,my friend just couldn't bear it, even at the first day of work. they are listed below:
On the 1st day, the korean guy said their office hours is from 9-6pm.Their lunchtime is not definite. The two clerks were asked "to cook" the lunch for all, prior to that, they were asked to do "grocery" at Robinsons. On these last 2 days, they would have their lunch at around 2PM depending on their boss, on some occasion, like the first day, they didn' t have their lunch.
My friend had to sneek to the canteen just to catch up for at least a sandwich.
Yesterday, they (2 clerk)were asked to stay at the office for up to 7PM. but they didn't have anything to do, because they weren't part of the business meeting. The personal secretary told them "hindi pa daw charge sa O.T." yun dahil nagsisimula
pa lang ang company.and sabi nya "ngayon lang naman ang overtime" sa susunod hindi na.Pls take note they don't have any logbook to record time-in or time-out.
Today, the korean guy told them the new office hours would be from 8:30Am-7:00PM and still no charge to overtime and no defined lunchtime. My friend said they were really fed up because they really don't do anything at work except to answer few telephone calls or talk to visitors. They were also asked to clean up the room and throw the garbage cans.
I think the company is operating without due permits and proper documents. The other clerk saw no working permit. although she saw one posted at the wall, its writing is in korean/foreign
language. Also, my friend asked the personal secretary if they would be deducted for SSS and Wtax. The personal secretary replied "yes". But my friend was wondering how come this is possible because on the first place they weren't asked to submit any SSS or TIN number.
Since the korean guy lives on that suite. he doesn't mind about overtime for his employees. he had wanted to have his secretary/clerk cook for him lunch or dinner. Also i may find this as sexual harrasment, he makes "biro" and constant physical touches , on arms and shoulder to the other clerk.
he had even asked the other clerk to go early at the office about 7AM to accompany him for breakfast. and also tried to ask her if they could go out for dinner after office hours. The clerk , of course, declined the offer.
The personal secretary also told these two clerks NOT to spread the word about the company , since they are "daw"
on the critical stage. this is crazy, what company wouldn't want to be known? they are hiding something.
STARGAZER@.com made a job ad at Jostreet.com.ph for a job opening on secretary/receptionist last November 7.
this is when my friend applied for the job. My friend had learned that the company will be submitting again another
job position for accountant/programmer. BUT , they will be using another company name, under the same address
so that they can escape from being charged. My friend said it is free to submit an ad ON THE FIRST TIME only.
Please help.... my concern is to get them away from any further threat. They cannot talk directly to their boss
since the korean guy is a hard headed stubborn person. He would only say "In korea, this is the way......"
I pity my friend and the other clerk, they were reasoning out " mahirap maghanap ng trabaho, kaya pinagtyatyagaan
na lang nila. but they were treated badly.
is there any way to make the company realize their mistakes? i mean where / to whom should i seek help
so that this company will end its evil ways. and that other job applicants will not be victimized by this Korean company.
Please help. try to spread the word if possible.
