Mga IT people: programmers, designers, engineers

How's the IT business back there in the Philippines, is there any positive outlook? no significant change, or worst than ever?

Well it depends on what industry an IT company is working on. For consulting companies catering to manufacturing firms, business is bad, so bad that my ex-company had to lay-off about half of its IT people. Parang US na din ano?

But for firms doing telecoms and banks, I think the business is picking up, especially those firms offering CRM, you'll be surprised how much money they are putting into new projects.

worst than ever! i'm currently working in an IT company in Ortigas, and believe me...IT business is really, bad. If you're not backed up by big time investors, there is a big possibility that your company will go down the drain...tsk,tsk,tsk...

Icicle!

Yes I'm referring to the Tektite Building. Many companies are moving out not because of the high rent. Actually rent here is relatively cheaper than other commercial spaces in Makati. I think it's because the economy is going so bad that some companies cannot even afford to rent a decent working area. Can you believe that? Hirap dito sa Pinas!

Anyway, there are also some talks that the Philippine Stock Exchange is moving out to another building also. I think they're the ones moving to The Fort.

Makenzi

I'm serious, my company is looking for an Account Manager. If you think you can do the job, you can send your resume to me and I'll have HR see if we can do anything, ok? ;)

I'm talking about conventional desktop, client/server applications. Simply because it took a backseat during the dotcom years and now businesses need to get back to the basics. A lot of businesses still need to go beyond Microsoft Word and Excel. There's really a dearth of programmers to do the job here and I had already met two groups of Indians layed off from the States who set up shop here. PC sales have also remained steady and that's one major indicator.

Hi Last year I was then working in an IT Firm in Tektite BLDG
and last year the company closed up because of the said ratings
of the Office Rentals: It cost 50,000 a month
