You may have heard that Warren Beatty has unoficially announced his intention to seek the US presidency and quite a few of his peers support him including Sharon Stone and Halle Berry. In the Philippines, we of course have Erap but who among the current crop of actors and actresses do you think would make able and true public servants? My vote goes to FPJ since I think he is a down to earth person who is beloved by many and I think would be a good leader. One only has to not ethat he hasn't asked for any favors from his good friend Erap who he helped out immensely as his campaign manager. Obviously he's not ideal but what I'm saying is if we are destined to have another showbiz figure be our national leader, it might as well be him.

Any thoughts? Or is the answer none?

The Rock says that with politcs in the Philippines running the way it does, we're probably not done with actors running our poor country, kawawa talaga tayo. Unfortunately, there are no actors who have the educational attainment or the integrity to run the country. That person just doesn't exist.

I'm really not sure because I don't know if what we see is what we get with the actors and actresses. They may have a good image, but it could be just that, an image. I agree with you batang uliran, it seems that FPJ can be a good government official because he seems down to earth, understanding, and caring. However, I don't know if he should be in politics - in the first place, his characteristics do not make him a POLITICIAN in the real sense of the word.
I would have to disagree with the great and respected TheRock. I am sure that there are few actors or actresses out there who are educated and who have integrity. Saying that there are none is generalizing too much. I can't name names, I don't know them that much, but I'm sure there are some out there. :)

The big differences I see between our actors and the politically inclined actors in the U.S. like Beatty, Leno, Tim Robbins, Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon, etc., are that the latter are highly intelligent people who have long been politically active and loyal to a party, who already know the ins and outs of politics, and will only get on the bandwagon when they really know what they're getting themselves into. Most of these actors have long been supporters and, in a sense, lobbyists for either the Democratic or Republican Party. The local actors here, unfortunately, want to be high-ranking politicians even before they acquire any experience with or knowledge for good government.
