Which movie theme makes your hair stand on its end and brings tears in your eyes everytime you hear it? That movie theme that vividly depicts the memorable scenes of their respective film. For me, here are my favorites:

Yes, "Secret Garden" from Jerry Maguire was great! I may be biased because I'm a HUGE Bruce Sprinsteen fan. He also did the songs for the movies Philadelphia ("Streets of Philadelphia"), Dead Man Walking, Limbo ("Lift Me Up") and Missing.

My favorite movie themes though:

For sheer drama and heartbreaking themes, I love Ennio Morricone. From the plaintive THE MISSION to the happy sadness in LOVE AFFAIR, to the heavily-charged ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, the nostalgic CINEMA PARADISO and the latest MALENA.


Other film scoring I find beautiful for reasons too various to specify: DRIVING MISS DAISY, COUNTRY (1982 Jessica Lange film), THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, CENTRAL STATION and DANGEROUS LIAISONS.

Movie Soundtracks which are to die for:

Eenio Morricone's Once Upon A Time In America- there is a newly released Special Edition cd which includes tracks not used in the film itself. "Amapola" and "Friends" are my favorites.

Patrick Doyle's Much Ado About Nothing-nice Celtic/Classical music. Emma Thompson's voice is in Track 1's "Sigh No More". Great orchestration.

James Horner's Legends of the Fall- soft and feel good music. "The Ludlows" remains to be an all time favorite in this cd.

Danny Elfman's Edward Scissorhands- fairy tale-like music, you think you've died and gone to heaven...:sunnysmile:
