Hey, I want to know, too. Is there a centralized government agency that hires for all positions? Is there a master list of vacancies? Or do I have to approach the government units one by one?

hello! how are you?
well, my friend was just hired at a govt agency. she's on a contractual basis...nakapasok siya kasi her tita is working there. medyo mahirap nga ang pumasok ngayon kasi freeze hiring pa sila. i suggest na hanap ka kakilala (that is if you really want to be a government employee)

...and i think you should take the professional civil service exam. kasi requirement yun.

good luck!!

by the way, why would you like sa government agency?? la lang, ask ko lang. :D

hi! i'm a gov't employee myself. i work here in the Office of the Press Secretary - Malacanang but on a contractual basis only. freeze hiring is still not lifted that's why i still don't have a "plantilla item". they call us "consultants" here if you're not in a plantilla item, yung ibang contractual gov't employee it's either what they have is a co-terminus contract or yung kagaya nung sa kin na every 6 months e nari-reinstate. and for the 3 yrs that i'm working here, my job' depends on the state of my contract...lam mo yung feeling na every june and dec e kinakabahan ka kung iri-reinstate ka pa nila o hindi na. :(

abt penetrating into the gov't office...it's not really difficult to land on a job here kung tutuusin e. but i won't deny that one of the best ways and i'll say a "sureball" way to hav an item here is through "padrino system". i have an ex-officemate here 2 years ago who got easily hired by the OPS because she's the niece of Leny de Jesus (ex PMS chief). yung isa naman e dahil family friend of our former Press Secretary (rod reyes) and parents nya. but that's just one of those ways to have a job in a gov't office.

by the way CLaiRe_ChiLL and lupuS, there are a lot of job openings posted on these following gov't websites that i had visited. kindly check out:

While I was still a Mass Communication student, I tried to apply for a position at the Department of Justice. For experience, that is. I got a position as Private Secretary II, and got promoted as Private Secretary III after a year. Since I was on a Co-Terminus basis, I transferred in 1997 to Land Registration Authority (an attached agency of the DOJ) in Quezon City. I worked there as Clerk III. I did not have a hard time of applying for a position because, aside from having a degree in Mass Communication, I am also a Sub-Professional eligible. I took up the Professional exam in 1998 (luckily I passed the exam), with the hope of getting a higher position, but to no avail. So I transferred to the PPA in 1999, where I was hired as Probation and Parole Officer I. I was promoted to Probation and Parole Officer II last year.

I don't know, but for me, I guess it's not that really hard to apply for a position in the government. ;)

I don't know with the other agencies, but what I heard in our office is that we are not in the freeze-hiring mode, but we will not hire from March 23, 2002 to May 6, 2002 because of the Election Ban.

Anyway, good luck, CLaiRe_ChiLL! :)

frenzy
Mar 4, 2002, 12:53 PM
I think the Civil Service Commission have three branches: Batasan Hills, Panay Avenue and near Banawe St. (I forgot the exact street), all in Quezon City.

For the Sub-Professional exam, you need 2 pictures, and P100. Professional, 2 pictures and P150.

you usually approach the diff. government units.........

freeze hiring sa halos lahat ngayon na agencies (samin lang hindi)...but you guys can ask naman the agency you're eyeing kung kasama sila sa austerity measures.....

chances are....those undergoing re-organizations are exempted by DBM.....so target those companies.....

basic requirements.........CSC eligibility or any board/bar exam; MBA (May Backer Ako), an opening in the agency, luck :)

one other thing...........working for the govenrment may seem like a piece of cake for some people.....w/ the thought that nde ganun ka-stressful......and that actually depends on where you work......

sometimes......field offices have it better...since walang bantay...they have lotsa free time.....pero minsan din, mas huli benefits nila or sweldo......

yun nga lang din...........in this day and age of economic crisis.....swerte talaga yung mga govt employees na permanent positions na....and asa income generating companies.....

Are you serious? Penetrating the government?

I shouldn't be saying this, but it's actually easy to infiltrate [some] government agencies... well, not all. Sa Bureau madali lang eh, since all that's required for you to be eligible for admission are: (1) 20/20 vision, (2) mabilis reflexes mo [we have tests to determine that], and... that's all you really need.

Optional na lang 'yung:
(1) Degree holder from a graduate school*
(2) 18 years old and above [we have some minors working for the government. No kidding.]

*So far, in dire need kami for holders of Mathematics, Political Sci, Law, Chemical Eng'g, Chemistry, MD, Computer Science, and Psychology.

TAMA KA DITO Xpact83, as in 100%*okay*

I DONT think so, youre NOT bagay sa Government Employee bec.

I hope you've got the difference...

thanks!

e2 magandang way, kung graduate ka.

take the career prof exam, and get at least 88%. this makes you eligible to join csc's brightest for the bureaucracy program. may sets of exams and screening pa para ma admit. pero pag pasok ka na, csc na ang hahanap ng trabaho para sa '**. ikaw pa ang magbibigay ng preferences mo, ex. kung gusto mo ba sa local or national, or kung gusto mo malapit sa bahay nyo. tatawagan ka na lang ng company na ire-recommend nila. dadaan ka pa rin sa normal screening process nung agency na papasukan mo, pero at least di ka na hanap ng hanap. maghihintay ka na lang. at pag pasok mo pa sa agency, may built-in respect na un dahil parang backer mo ang csc.
