macromedia CS? it's a tough account. there are a lot of things to learn, more than most other accounts. on the bright side, they're one of the closest knit accounts in sykes. they're a fun group...yung type of fun, i guess you'll have to find out for yourself.

lemme guess, you're probably one of the newbies training for the gen account of macromedia. you're one of the 3 or 4 new guys in the account. heheheh...

as for your question. i can give you my personal opinion of the pros and cons, but it's going to spoil the excitement of discovering it yourself.

Jeffrey was shot by an individual who entered the center with a weapon. This incident appears to have resulted over a personal dispute and not a random act of violence. Jeffrey was rushed to Makati Medical Center and received treatment throughout the night. Unfortunately, he was not able to recover from the injuries he suffered.

A husband shot dead his and his wife's coworker in a call center in Makati on New Year's Day apparently in a fit of jealousy.

Probers said suspect Sherwin dela Cruz of Sykes Asia which holds office on the 25th floor of the Robinson Summit bldg at Ayala Ave and Paseo de Roxas confronted Jeffrey Gonzalez, 22, single, over rumors the latter was having an affair with his wife Darlene.

The victim died from a lone gunshot wound in the face at the Makati Medical Center.

Nakapasok sya sa floor by tail-gating others who were coming through the doors. Wala daw yung guard kaya din sya nakapasok. Buti na lang at hindi sya (yung Client namin) mamamatay-tao or masamang tao.

It's such a shame that even after this unfortunate incident, hindi pa rin natutututo yung mga Guards ng RS! Dapat kasi 2-3 ang guards per floor. 1-2 Roving Guards and 1 na nagbabantay sa pinto (hindi yung natutulog lang or nanonood ng TV sa Pantry). tsk... tsk... tsk...

Supersleepy, I tried to jump to MCI last August but they suddenly retranched when I was processing my clearance[I had to re-apply to transfer accounts]. Our trainer told us that if we re-apply, we would not be taking the two week core skills training that we finished.

Our trainer[from account that I resigned from] just cautioned us not to abuse the re-apply privilege[for accounts with no bond] for those trainees who want to work in another account, that is why I want to make sure I get into an account I would really like before applying again. The MCI e-mail account is a relatively new account[last October-batch 1].

I miss the decent and cheap food at the ground floor of Burgundy.

E-mail account is fun for those who love posting in forums!

He was shocked that the proctor did not let her continue with the exams and told him that they already saw his scores (HR Peeps), and it did not passed the requirements.. But nobody from HR told them that the exams would be like "the weakest link" , and my ro was shocked to know he eas the lowest when in fact he knew from himself that his score is not that bad. Just asking lang naman....is it like that exam conducted by converygys ba talaga, o pauso lang.:)

A reason why is because the HR people won't want to waste their time, kaya sa exams and interviews pa lang dine-determine na nila kung sino sa tingin nila ang karapat-dapat na mag-move-on to the next stages of the application process.

The imposition of an employment bond at Sykes-Manila depends on the account or department within the account where the staff works. Yes, some accounts/clients even have more than one department to be serviced within Sykes. And yes, some accounts are bond free and gives you the early option to transfer to other accounts within Sykes-Manila.

Sykes also does not impose an unethical and immoral "non-compete" clause like some contact centers that ban you from the whole call center industry up to one year after resignation - irregardless of whether or not the account in the new call center where you want to work for is a direct industry competitor of the account where you want to work for. Yes, you will find no onerous provisions in your employment contract with Sykes.

Remember that the call center industry/contact center industry - or BPO industry in a broader sense - services different accounts from a broad range of industries. Banning - through a non-compete clause - any employee to work in the whole industry after resigning is clearly an immoral practice. The employee should only be banned to work in the same account or industry where the person previously worked. As an example: There is no ethical and moral sense in banning a person who previously worked in a credit card or telecom acccount from working as a directory assistance staff.

if i'll be going to sykes as walk-in applicant, would i be interviewed right away? would i have the exam at the same day? just wanna ask coz im quite far from the place and going there just to leave my resume would be a lotta waste of time, money and effort.
not that i'm not willing to do everything to land a job there. my budget is so limited for my job hunting.

nung nag-walk in ako sa Sykes (19th Flr, OSMA), exams agad and initial interview. d ko lang sure kung ganito pa rin ang system kasi July 2004 pa ito e. basta go directly dun sa OSMA (tapat ng Lourdes School) kung mag-aapply ka.

Roshiel: I had my initial interview right then and there when I passed my resume as a walk-in applicant at 19/F OSMA last Feb14, 2005. Then I passed and was scheduled for examination the next day since I passed by OSMA pass 3pm already. I think if you go there early, you might have the examination in the afternoon..

One year experience in tech support from a call center has a higher pay than fresh graduates.

Remember...Sykes pays more than what is in you contract. It varies from account to account. Each account has their own way of giving performance pay. This is one company where even a non-tech guy in on a certain account can earn 45K per month in gross pay due to the incentives.

Depende po sa account ang pagtanggap ng "undergrads" sa Sykes. Meron pong mga account na pwede ang "undergrads", merong mga account gusto nila ay "seasoned professionals".

Ang Sykes di tulad ng ibang call center, ay may karagdagang mga pabuya depende sa account na papasukan mo. Iba't-ibang-account, ibat-ibang sweldo at pabuya na dagdag sa regular pay ng staff. Merong mga account na pwedeng tumabo ng mga malaking halaga na talo pa ang gross pay ng mga team leader sa ibang call center. Tandaan iba-ibang account sa iba't-ibang industriya - ibat-iba rin ang pay.

Check "Jobstreet" website for more details[not all "openings" are posted there, though].

di po pwedeng piliin yung account. depende kasi kung saan yung may slot for new agents. titingnan din nila kung saan kang account bagay na ilagay.

sa one san miguel building (san miguel ave.) ang sykes ortigas/pasig.

may tanggalan pa rin po ng agents sa training, medyo mahirap ang transition. mahigpit na kasi sila ngayon. sa batch namin 30% lang ang nakapag-live... the rest end of contract agad. galing pa sa ibang call centers yung iba, meron pa may background sa IT pero di nakapasa. :(

yung exams at interview for job offer madali lang naman. kagaya rin sa iba. yung training ang dapat paghandaan pag nakapasok ka na. pag live ka na kasi di na ganun kahigpit pero may pressure pa rin from your sups/TLs.

Bago po ako sa Sykes. I e-mailed my resume to SYkes Wedenesday of last week, was called for phone interview Friday, took the battery of Exams and made the interview Wednesday, signed the contract today, Thursday.
