hmm... now we only offer voice support.

In ambergris you'll only have series of interviews, NO EXAMS. The usual questions that a recruiter would ask are (especially if its your first time) "What are your thoughts or ideas in the call center industry?" "Why did you decide to apply in a call center?" "Why (call center name)?"
followed by expectations, and variations of tongue twisters and trivias. :)

You can also ask some tips to the "HR recruiters dito tyo" thread. :)

I had a bad stay at Amber... Inipit mga leaves namin pati tech premium inipit din.. kung kelan ako umalis saka binigay yung tech premium.. inuna pa yung mga bago bigyan ng tech premium kesa sa mga pioneer ng account namin.. pasaway talaga amber! tas for sure di ko pa makukuha back pay ko ... mga 3 mons. pa bago ilabas yung back pay.. sama ng systema ng amber... sana baguhin nila..

What a day! :)

After sending my resume thru ambergris.pex@gmail.com last week, got a call last Tuesday, however, I was on a company outing with my current employer so I wasn't able to take the call. But they sent an email regarding the interview at Market! Market. Then, went on halfday work yesterday, and lo & behold! got an initial interview from Ms. Jane so I didn't need to go to Market! Market!. After a few hours, she called again to tell me that I have a final interview this morning (at 6am actualy :))... after the interview with 2 TC's, was told to wait... then after a few minutes was advised that we're in, just wait for the call from HR for the requirements, training scheds, contract signing, etc... Just hope they call asap and have me sign the contract and everything so I can file my resignation from my current employer... :)

Just got a call a few minutes ago... for the job orientation/contract signing na ako tom sa market market at 5pm, so whoever is gonna be there, hope to meet you :)

... however, in a dilemma kasi i'm still employed (somewhere in manila & not in a call center) and need to file resignation pa with 30 days notice (for endorsements, clearance, etc). Now, sabi nung kausap ko (Dave ata yung name), I might not be able to sign a contract if that is the case kasi the training dates will start either June 13 or 20 which is stated daw sa contract. If I cannot start on the said dates, I will be put on active file until a new date for the training is announced and they will just call me. Can I still be assured of the job offer even if I did not sign the contract? And how long will that take?

but, anyway you cannot really assure your status in a call center kse may ibang bumabagsak sa training plng, or even 2months plng sa work bumabagsak na...


make a smart descission... kausapin mo ang mga dapat kausapin sa current job mo.. or file a vacation leave sa current work mo dba?

kse what happened to me is this; i got an offer pro di nila ako kinuha sa inbound sales nila kse nga galing ako sa company na may pareong product..

they put my resume on active stats and they told me na to wait for the call for endorsement sa ibang account... it was like 2 weeks ago...

I've already started it why not go till the end?

With regards to this particular thing, you actually start from the lowest but if you do well, there will be compensations. It's not forever that you will get 5k or less or whatever. If you want to succeed, you just have to be patient and give your best. In short, paghirapan mo para makuha yung gusto mo :)

JO was okay, P & P's (short for policies & procedures in my current company :)) were discussed and questions about it were entertained. Basically the same with almost any company, just some minor differences but all in all okay lang. Package (which I believe is confidential) is okay, mataas sya for starters except for some who were given much higher starting salaries from their previous employers. Actually, yung basic ko sa work ko is almost the same with AS's basic/starting salary except me service charge ako kasi Hotel po ako nagwowork. But sa deductions naman napupunta kaya wala rin ehehe
Basta okay sya for me, ewan ko na lang sa iba... kanya kanyang opinion na lang yun.

However, wasn't able to sign the contract :(... Kasi need to give prior advise to my current employer (who unfortunately is in Japan for a business trip) and have to have 30 days notice which I have to double chek if I can reduce it to 15 days then apply my remaining leaves so I can start with AS...

you know what? i worked here last year - and it's not that bad at all. it's just that my priorities have become different. there may be a lot of things that need improvement in ambergris but we think that somehow it's getting there. Not a lot of call centers offer profit-sharing schemes like this one. Not a lot of call centers have really nice employee facilities.

The greatest challenge Ambergris has to prioritize should be the depth of its management training & disicpline. It becomes a real setback when you see a lot of AOMs, OMs, (hell) even Directors and VPs who are not getting enough meaningful training. They feel like headless chickens sometimes. And you can't really blame them at some point. Therefore, a manager is unprepared to mentor and coach his/her subordinates. And there goes the theory of the bozo explosion - wherein one inept manager spawns an inept supervisor and so on and so forth.

Well, there is great hope that with the Telus investment, your management might gear up. There are some really bright people there - after all, some of them are not just pretty faces.

i posted the same observation in one of the threads here... the industry has grown so fast, that we often have half-baked supervisors, managers, and directors who have inadequate mentoring and/or leadership skills, and who lack the depth of character and wisdom that comes from experience.

Promotions are handed down too fast because of the explosive growth of the industry.

HR Practitioners are too focused on recruiting only those with call center experience (neglecting to consider those with previous supervisory or managerial experience in other industries).

And, yes, an inept manager does spawn an inept supervisor, and so on...

what compounds this problem is that this inept supervisor now moves on to another company, applies as a manager, and spawns more inept supervisors...

i have this opinion that ambergris at some point is too top heavy. there is a director for every account...even if the account is just really small. the structure has not considered that with all the TC reporting to AOMs, who report to OMs, who report to Directors, who then report to VPs, who report to the COO, who reports to the CEO -- the flow of meaningful communication gets screwed up somehow.

Couple that with executives who don't really coach the people under them. at some point i get to pity the directors who are groping to learn on their own (and this is a risk if they are not mentored well) because they cascade down certain notions that may not be what their subordinates need. There are Directors / VPs there who have been with the company for years and still they have yet to experience meaningful training from the very leadership of the company. The experience might teach them the way - but the vision somehows gets lost in the daily grind of things. And there are a lot of good directors (and misunderstood probably at one side) in ambergris who may not see the full light of their skills because they are held back by years of non-mentoring.

one thing to break the attrition is to educate your leaders first. but hey, i guess this is the same for other call centers. but this company still has the potential.... (i guess i will always have a small spot for filipino-based companies who are trying to take stabs at the global scene.)

talaga? btw, i was not hired as an agent. i was suppose to be an admin assistant/receptionist. at that time, i thought the salary was too low. 8k plus 10% night differential pay and 2k yata for meal allowance. yun yung nakalagay sa contract na pinirmahan ko. feeling ko din masyadong mababang entry position yung receptionist. at that time, i wanted to be hired as a csa but i was hired as a receptionist. syempre, napaisip ako na bakit ganun yung position na binigay sa akin, graduate naman ako sa magandang university, tapos magiging receptionist lang ako. naisip ko din na ako yung unang taong makikita ng lahat ng darating, ako rin daw yung mag-aassist sa mga applicants during their interview aside from taking incoming calls, transferring calls, screening the resumes, calling up applicants for interview etc. okay lang yung hr part of the job pero yung ibang job functions hindi ko na nagustuhan. :)

Just got a call from Sir Don a few minutes ago, asking if I'm still pushing thru with my application. And of course, I said yes :)

Advised him that I just need to clear my status with my current employer and was already advised by my officemate that they are now looking for my replacement... YIPEE! My 2nd resignation letter wasn't denied... Last wid dem is on July 18

thats really true. i prefer internally hired tc.. oh well i will just email the resume..and at the same time will tell my friend to apply personally. :) and i dont think it will be hard for her since she came form the same account..different department nga lang but she has an idea of the round around of the account. this august i think we will ramp up since its peak season. i just hope she will be hired.
