View Full Version : To all Anime fans: What is your most memorable moment in Anime?
Seishirou

I just wanted to know what moment in your favorite anime series or whatever sticks out in your mind and is very memorable? Mine is the classic cliffhanger to Macross' Pre-Judgment Day episode. Just after Lin Minmei finishes her inspirational song for all the troops, hundreds upon hundreds of the Zentraedi battle cruisers warp in from the farthest reaches of space and surround the lone SDF1 Battle Cruiser. The tension in thin air and the setup for next episodes as a classic judgment day battle was superb!

As for me, my most favorite anime scene was in the RK OAV 1, when Kenshin first met Tomoe. The music was a perfect backdrop, and the way the camera moved like it was Kenshin's own eyes was great as it landed on Tomoe. The rain falling on Tomoe's bloodied clothes were also perfect to accentuate the scene...*sigh* it was so beautiful! I just kept on rewinding and rewinding again and again. :)

Seishirou...I was thinking of that scene too, naunahan mo ako! =) That scene was cheesy IMHO, pero memorable alright.
Another memorable scene for me is also in the Macross series where Max fights zentaredi-wife-to-be Miria (not sure of spelling) in a videogame.

Goonie, I agree with you, actually I was going to post that up but the first meeting between Tomoe and Kenshin won for me. :D I loved that fight, its gotta be one of the best fight scenes ever. The lighting was great, the dialogue and its delivery by the seiyuus were superb! Yup, gotta be one of my most favorite fight scenes!

I also liked the scene in the Endless Waltz OAV of Gundam Wing...after Wufei and Heero were fighting, some really somber synthesizer music suddenly pitched in and Heero suddenly started reminiscing the time when he accidentally killed that little girl who gave him a flower...and then he asked Wufei how many more people do they need to kill...and then he plunged his Gundam into the water, after saying that Wing Zero wouldn't give him any answers...
I still get goosebumps after watching that scene!! :D :D

my favorite scene
was from the anime movie "Kaze no tani no Nausicaa" (Nausicaa of the valley of the winds) by Studio Ghibli
The scene where she stood beside the young mutated bug(forgot the name of the creature) holding on to its side, her ankle shot, body bleeding from all the dragging she got. And yet she stood there beside that bug, looking straight at the rampaging horde of mutated bugs coming straight at her. With the initial impact, she dies....
Yet her death calmed the horde and she was brought back to life. You really have to see it to get the whole picture.
i was so touched that I had to wipe a tear from my eye... :D
Another one is from the Pokemon the movie.
Where Ash was turned to stone and Pikachu was trying to revive him by electrifying him.. was also touching..

Assasin_Mage: YAH!!!! I REMEMBER THAT!!! i watched that a reeeeeeallly long time ago... and i have to say that that must be one of the most effective tear-jerkers i've seen too. most of my cousins cried whe we watched it :(... :D :D :D :D

The Rock
Apr 19, 2000, 12:29 AM
Every fight scene in "Ninja Scroll" is memorable to The Rock! Especially the one where Jubei faces the blind samurai Utsutsu Mujuro, and when the big rock guy Tessai takes out the whole ninja clan. Those were awesome! :D There was also this scene in "*******" where Dark Schneider's ninja buddy was impaled. Yet he dragged himself off of the spike that was impaling him! And in "Neon Genesis Evangelion", when Shinji and Asuka had to destroy an angel with synchronized dance moves, that was also unbelievable!
For classics sake, everybody loves the first time that Steve Armstrong did "the butterfly return"!
IceAngel
Apr 19, 2000, 02:19 PM
The Rock: I kinda thought it looked weird when Shinji and Asuka were doing those synchronized backflips...but I think it was also cool too. LOL, I gotta agree with you about that part in where Steve did that butterfly thing...that was a classic!
Speaking of classics, the most memorable moment I think in that shoujo anime "Candy Candy" was when Anthony's horse's leg got stuck on a foxtrap....and Anthony got thrown off and landed on the ground with this thud..and Candy was a witness to the whole thing...what a scene! What made it even more memorable is that that was the last episode of Candy they showed before they did reruns. :D :D

anyone remember the scene in Macross wherein
The big brother of rick hunter died? you know..where he stillmanages to land the SKull fighter and the techs remark on the hits it took...
And when they looked at him, he was already dead.. I cried then.. silly me..

Apr 20, 2000, 06:43 PM
Assasin_mage: Oh my god...that's another one of my favorite Macross scenes...it was so tear-jerking, the way his girlfriend was crying about it but she wouldn't even show it to Lisa. I think what really makes it tearjerking is that piano sequence they always play during sad scenes...its so heartwrenching!
Seishirou
Apr 20, 2000, 07:37 PM
Yeah, that piano tune is a real tearjerker, allright. The other piano tune from the series that I like the most would have to be the one that the boy called Bowie(the guy who befriended the girl clone from the Robotech Masters' group) in the conclusion of an episode. Everybody else was doing their own thing, and the way the sad tune reflected what they were doing at the time was really touching.
Ninja Scroll was one piece of pessimistic work, if you ask me. Not that I'm ribbing on it or anything, because I love it like hell, but the atmosphere of the entire movie was really negative. With 'ol Jubei as a lead protagonist, what can you expect?

sa akin yung sa evangelion at kinain ni unit 1 'yung isang angel! kadiri!
The Rock
Apr 21, 2000, 01:01 AM
IceAngel, yep it was both weird and cool. Kind of surreal too. :D
Seishirou, The Rock guesses that that's part of the reason why "Ninja Scroll" is still so popular. It isn't like your typical cartoon (especially U.S. toons) where everything ends up nice and everyone is happy. Good ol' Jubei is a great anti-hero who's pretty much lost his way in the world. But he still manages to get us to cheer for him.
KASKAS mo sa pader, yeah that Unit 01-devouring-angel scene was also unforgettable. Ewww...

I remember a scene from Macross 7..
I think it was in one of the Firebomber episodes..
Nway, there was this scene where in the group went against one of their own fighters who was possessed. It turns out that the female vocalist had a thing going with the pilot.. and when they could not defeat the possessed one, she went out of her Exo-robot and sang to him in outer space.. which broke the spell on the pilot.. was really great..
loved the song used in that one also..
but sad thing.. I only saw this scene once.. couldnt find a copy anywhere..

Speaking of Ninja Scroll, I've always regarded that movie as having the more realistic swordfights, until the Rurouni Kenshin OVA's came along. The duel that Jubei had with Mujuro-kun at the bamboo forest was simply breath-taking. Jubei's sword skills are far more lethal than the Hitokiri Battousai's, IMHO. It's because while Battousai's blows only severely injure an enemy, Jubei's blows almost always hack off an opponent's limb or severely hack-up an enemy. A match-up between him and the present-day Kenshin is what I'm waiting to see terribly. Kenshin always relies on his vaunted regenerative healing factor to get him through a fight, let's see him handle a lopped-off head. THAT would have thorugh sting.
Yare, yare.... I have rambled far enough. My most favorite scene in this movie would have to be when Jubei confronts Gama(if that's his name) at the burning treasure hold of Gama's ship. Just as Gama was rushing in to kick the crap out of Jubei, Jubei retaliates by whipping out his version of a battoujutsu and showing Kenshin who really is the "Battousai".

In Tenchi Muyo! in Love....when Tenchi faces Kain on top of Tokyo Tower...he was thrown back and hit the metal railings real hard, Achika was nearby and saw a strange and yet all too familiar young man with the Tenchi-ken on hand...Tenchi stood up struggling and said "I....I won't let you hurt my Mother!"....Achika struck by this just said "Enough!" and all of the glass cabinets exploded into fragments as Achika faced Kain.

In Oh My Goddess! the Movie. Faced with the Judgement Gate, Keiichi and Belldandy knew the risks. If there was the smallest doubt in their love for the other....neither or them would ever see each other ever again, something that was the greatest fear in both of these lover's heart. Morgana, the fairy, a victim of love and fate had already faced and failed this judgement test. She watched in fear, realizing the same fate she had met will again be passed on to another. This source of sorrow for her heart was what she had battled and struggled to be rid of in this world of goddesses and humans. Why should the gods judge love? She always thought, after that day....that horrible day she and her beloved other were separated for all eternity. Belldandy and Keiichi though, knowing so well each other, knew that there was no doubts in their hearts....and as soon as they had walked through the gates....an endearing landscape of beauty and nature greeted the truimphant lovers....the very first to ever have conquered the Judgement Gate that test the love between Gods and Humans...

two way-cool fights come to mind...
the first one is Himura Kenshin vs. Saitou Hajime... i could feel the tension and intensity, and Kenshin's revert to Hitokiri Battousai gave me the goose-bumps... unforgettable...
then there's the battle between Dias Ragu and Darkness... that was another spectacular one... Dias outdoing the skill and will-power of the supposed entity of darkness and death... and how his mind was so strong he died standing...

Nitta Chiharu is such a b*tch, sobra. i would just loooooove to see Kyoichi have some payback, big time. i'll never forget that episode. the series ender was cool, too... now that was a cool Chiharu.
Hiko Seijirou battling it out with Fuji the giant was spectacular, and Yahiko's victory over Henya was quite a moment in RK as well.
Sakuragi's basketball milestones were always very memorable, as well as the flashback of Fukuda snapping and hitting Taoka-sensei on the forehead while crowing ala-Bruce Lee. that was pretty hilarious.

my ultimate favorite anime scene (for now) is from RK's latest OAV which was just released last December 2001
when Kenshin finally admits to Kaoru how much he loves her. they kissed each other after that.
everything's perfect. the way Kenshin looked straight through Kaoru's eyes after gently lifting her chin up with his fingers. the sunset is really realistic. hindi **** ganito ka-simple ang setting ng scene, mahirap **** i-describe, pero ang galing talaga. please watch it ^^ romantic talaga without even a slight hint of cheesiness, imo
"...this man has found his partner..." :) imagine nyo na lang na sinasabi to ni Kenshin ng seryoso, nakakatuwa talaga

The gun battle between Vash and Knives was unforgetttable, especially the scene when Knives got hold of Vash's six-shooter. With the black six-shooter in one hand and the silver six-shooter in the other hand, he created two angel arms. Then Vash heard Wolfwood's voice, urging him to use the Cross Punisher. Vash rolls to get the Cross Punisher then uses it's rapid fire arsenal, neutralizing Knives' twin angel arms.

I normally hate mush, but Ranma 1/2 mush always gets my attention.
Eugene - pahiram ng post mo
- Ranma movie 2 - Ranma destroyed the only cure that would change him to a man forever...just to save Akane.
I'm no good at Ranma 1/2 attacks (masyadong mahaba yung pangalan) but he used one of his most powerful energy attacks to blow up the spring. Later on, when they were alone with each other, Akane realized that Ranma did it for her. Touching scene... Ranma would never admit that he actually has feelings for her, but his actions speak louder than his words.
- Akane helping Ranma defeat the dragon thing (same OAV).
That was superb teamwork. Akane took off her outer garment to get the dragon's attention. While the dragon was lounging towards her, she threw the hot water kettle at Ranma. With Ranma in guy form, he regained his guy strength and broke free. He then jumped towards Akane. While he was holding Akane and going for a landing, Akane played the whistle that put the dragon to sleep. Kawaii!
- Ranma holding Akane's hand in the end of that OAV.
Kinda awkward scene, but it's in my mind
- Ranma puts his hand on Akane's shoulder, while Akane leaned her head on his.
Yup. So far this is the only episode I recall where Ranma actually showed his affection for Akane.
- In the episode where a frog-man appeared (Martial Mayhem series), Akane intentionally blocked the frog-man's cursed water just to save Ranma. Ranma actually believed that the water that hit Akane was from the cursed spring so he cried his heart out, only to learn that the water was fake so Akane won't become a frog.
- Original TV series, Akane still had long hair. Ranma was battling Ryoga (Ryoga's second appearance). One of Ryoga's bandanna projectiles was dodged by Ranma, but it slashed Akane's hair instead. Later, Ranma remarked that she looked cuter with short hair. Bola!
- Desperately seeking Shampoo OAV, Ranma was talking with Ukyou, and he asked her if she loved him. Ukyou was so red with embarassment (kawaii!), and she said I... love... you...
then she hit Ranma with her spatula. :evil_lol:
