over the years, we've been able to accumulate a plethora of stupid movie titles. Examples of which are I do I die, diyos ko die; Sprikitik walastik kung pumitik; hey babe; computer combat; magic to win series, pido dida; once upon a time in china etc... what movie titles have you laughed at?

Patikim ng Pinya (the classic, buti na lang walang secong movie titled Tikman Mo Ang Biko)
Tag-Ulan Noon, Ang Bukid Ay Basa (don't ever tell me that this is about the rainy season)
Hubad Sa Ilalim Ng Buwan (this film is about a lady who sleepwalks naked under the moon, hence the title)
Sa Iyo Ang Itaas, Sa Akin Ang Ibaba (Ng Bahay) (obvious bang kamanyakan to?)
Tikim (don't tell me that this is about taste-testing Kitchenomics recipes)

I'd like to share something. In the midst of the controversy of Calendar Girls and MTB, the movie title Talong was approved. When Armida was asked why she tolerated the title but suspended MTB over double-entendre jokes, she said: Talong does not connote genitalia, not unless you're maliciously minded.
Oo nga naman, hindi naman bastos ang talong. Kaso, comedy film ba yon para hindi bigyan ng malisya? :)

Yoshi: medyo malayo na sa topic, pero i too wanna share something, i huv a prof and our class was asked to make a reaction about Burlesk Queen Ngayon or Sa Paraiso ni Efren. It's so weird lang na they gave a rated B for the latter, but when you get to see it puro "baboy" yung mga scenes, I mean not all but most of it. Since Siguion-Reyna handled the mtrcb did u notice that "tittilating films" became rampant? To think mga walang kwenta naman.

Another baduy title: SUTLA (naks!!!) starring Priscilla Almeda eoowwww!!!

Genevieve: I also had the chance to watch Paraiso, and I agree, and baboy talaga! What's even worse is that medyo pa-psychological crap pa yung film, and to tell you frankly, I did not get what the movie wanted to say.

It's just too bad that though Armida Siguion-Reyna had been known to be a staunch supporter of Filipino films, she seems to be "backtracking" by allowing the proliferation of more sexy movies. It sets a bad precedent for other movie directors because approvals only boost their guts to produce even more crappy films. What's even sadder is that we still support them, especially when they're under the guise of "quality" films.

Speaking of Priscilla Almeda, Sutla is reportedly her "do-or-die" film. If it becomes a hit, she'll continue on the bold bandwagon. If it doesn't, then she'll consider going back to more "responsible" acting.

I remembered another movie title:

speaking of SUTLA, gary estrada ALLEGEDLY didn't do the sex scenes in the movie at kung may mga scenes man daw siya, hindi raw pinakita ang mukha niya (yes, as in e.g.: hiding in priscilla's skirt doing something under it). para daw hindi masira ang reputation ng angkan niya (w/c now boasts of the president of the republic himself!)

advice: kung ayaw masira ang reputasyon ng pamilya, gumawa ng matinong pelikula, o.k.? yung wholesome (pero huwag naman masyadong wholesome to the point na magmumukhang tangga....look what happened to the "mag-pinsan" na sina kris (pido dida habang anak ng presidente) and mikee (while her movies are good, her tv career isn't going anywhere [esp. w/ that stupid mikee forever show na katangahang version ng murphy brown at ngayon naman ay dear mikee na kunwari'y nagaadvice in the tradition of ms. vela and ms. punzalan....mikee ano ba???????!!!!]

Genevieve: I could have watched Blair Witch earlier on pirated VCDs but I really prefer the whole cinematic experience. I've been getting mixed reviews, so I really don't know what to expect. Yes, I've been to the website and I think it's really creepy. Hope the movie doesn't fail me, though.
