View Full Version : Pera lang ba talaga?

Yung current company that I work for is so tied up with just making money, cutting cost, cutting people, cutting everything ! Definitely ang "bottom line" ng business is to make money but we also have to be given enough time to bring in the dough. Mga two(2) years old pa lang yung company and we are definitely struggling pero the people leading the organization expect us to make a profit right away.

They keep changing things which makes work life even more frustrating. Pagkatapos ng sobrang hirap na budget season ok kami for awhile and then the top guys get creative and move the targets to a "crazy" level. They would suddenly come up with a reason to cut-cut and cut even more. The only once that are safe are the "YES" people and/or yung malakas kay boss.

Just come to think of it, ano na kaya ang nangyari sa Vision and Mission statement namin ? Definitely hindi na ito clear because it keeps on changing. Panay planning na lang kami and trying our best to defend our budget and our people para hindi ma-CUT !!! Wala ng time to implement the plans and to hopefully bring in the DOUGH.

It is really time to move on to a company who has a clear VISION and would implement the plans we create.

yeah... bottom line ng companies is to make money. investor invest money eyeing for return of profits. when someone starts a company they compute the 'return of investment' or ROI. mission statements is what gives the company a direction, but still, they need to balance it out and accept the reality that they need money, it's serious when investors no longer want to pour in more money when it's needed so it's time for cost cutting and downsizing.

I can so relate here. Every move that we make, laging may tanong na, "What would be the return on investment?"
I work in HR all my life. Our department has always been seen as the expense department. It's hard to propose projects and activities kasi laging, "Ano naman ang ROI nyan?" We have to strongly justify why employees should go on trainings, teambuildings, outings, etc. Our department is making money now because we sell memberships on the side. Talk about multi-tasking.
Sana nga ilagay nalang sa Mission statement namin, "Money, money, money." At least maiintindihan ko pa.

Basta sa private, parating ganyan. Business eh. In our company, every meeting with the executive committee is a discussion on money and how we'd rake in more. I wish you could eavesdrop during one of our meetings and hear how cold-hearted those filthy rich executives could be. Nakakakilabot. Hindi nga naman kami NGO or some social service institution para magkawang-gawa nang ganun -- according to the Chairman. If the company wouldn't earn as much as expected, then he might as well pack up daw and close down the business. Um, he's got a point.

Mabilis din ang turnover sa amin. The marketing people are the ones bringing in the dough, but they have the most thankless job. (Thank god I'm in research!) Say, a marketing officer was the top man for 2 consecutive years, but the third year hasn't been so good to him. Staying that long with the company should make him know better that his days are numbered, because for sure the bosses would make his life a living hell until he's forced to resign. And the clerks.. they are the most overworked and earning the least. Pati ibinabayad sa overtime nila, kinukwestyon.

Sana ma-realize ng mga bossing na bigyan naman kami ng TIME to implement, tweak and make more money. I think in our case, because of the stress to make money in a short period of time, na-a-address lang yung SHORT term objectives. Actually panay short term na lang nga ! :-)

Yung LONG term objective to create something for the global market wala na. I think magiging malaki din ang kumpanya namin pero local lang ang growth niya. Di ba for a company to REALLY grow, it should penetrate the global marketplace.

Sino ba ang mga Filipino companies that has SIGNIFICANTLY penetrated the global market ? Hmmm.... new thread na yata ito ! :)

i know meron ng ganitong thread, paki-merged na lang pag-nahalukay nio...

i am still wondering kung talagang pera lang ba ang dahilan kung bakit tayo nag-wowork.

look at the call center industry, many people want to work with us ( callcenter dudes and dudettes) kasi this is where the money is 'ika nga.

para sakin d lang pera. it is the biggest factor though

money is important, of course. but for some ppl (like me) it's not just money. some people would put up with lousy or terrible jobs so long as the pay's good. im not the type to do that. i'd rather love my work and get paid less than vice versa. other people just have other motivating factors i'd guess

There are several factors in considering a job, but I believe that SURVIVAL is quite important, if not the most important.

I am referring to survival in all its aspects, the obvious one being financial.

In order to go on existing, we need money to buy our basic needs. In my case, it started out as a whim to move to a call center, but as time passed by, it became a desperation. My move to another call center is out of need to be paid higher and to be given more chances for promotion. This brings us to another aspect of survival - the IQ/EQ aspect.

For all those in call centers, would you prefer to stick to taking in/making calls for the rest of your career life? (Nakakabobo ito). Wouldn't you want to become a leader, manager or supervisor, (whatever you'd like to call it)?If not, wouldn't you want to follow your preferred career path?

Money is a major motivation for most people especially if they need to survive (at least!). It is only when people have money to at least go on living on a daily basis, that the other factors (e.g. job satisfaction, meaning, etc.) would come into mind.

yUP! DI LANG PERA. KELANGAN KASI MAY PASSION KA SA WORK MO SO YOU WILL HAVE FULLFILMENT. KAYA LANG WITH THE STATE OF OUR ECONOMY, MAHIRAP UNAHIN ANG PASSION FOR WORK KAYSA TUMMIES OF KIDS TO FILL DI BA? YUN BANG KAYSA MAG PAINT KA O MAG TEACH EH MAG ACCOUNTANT KA NA LANG NA WALA KA NAMANG PASSION. KAYA NGA MAY BURN OUT KASI DI MO TALAGA LOVE ANG WORK MO, PERA LANG.

:D pero masaya naman sa call center..basta sa work, dapat u get paid enuf and dapat masaya ka sa ginagawa mo or atleast kasundo mo yung ppl u work with

Let's face it. There are a lot of people who want to join the industry because they're in it for the money. Galing din ako sa call center industry but I didn't work as a call center agent. I was a part of the support group. Believe me malaki pa sweldo sakin ng call center agents namin sa international accounts for two years but I stayed there. One reason was because at that time nag eenjoy pa ko sa trabaho ko. Umalis ako not because mababa ang sweldo ko but because I don't like my new boss. :D

I'm willing to forego the money factor in place of a job I really like but only up to a certain extent.

depende:
