Star admits though she idolises Sam Milby, she had nothing to do with his breakup with Anne

For a showbiz newbie, being in the news would ordinarily be a very good thing. But when you’re Michaela Melania of Star Magic Batch 16, that’s not always the case.

Michaela became a tabloid target earlier this year when she was made out to be the third party behind the breakup of Anne Curtis and Sam Milby. It probably started when she answered a question posed to her at the Star Magic Batch 16 launch. When asked who her showbiz crushes are, she replied, “Piolo Pascual, Mickey Perz, [Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus ex-housemate] Robi Domingo, the Taiwanese actor Wu Chun, and Sam Milby.”

When she said Sam’s name, those present at the launch suddenly started asking her if she had anything to do with the breakup. “I was very surprised when they asked me that,” Michaela said. “Looking back, though, I think they did so because Anne and Sam were having problems at around the time of the launch. They must have assumed I was the reason.”

She continues, “Actually, at the time I didn’t know that Anne and Sam were fighting. When I found out, my reaction was, ‘Really?’ I couldn’t have had anything to do with it because I honestly didn’t know that their relationship had hit a rough patch.”

But while she denies having caused the breakup, Michaela admits that she does idolise Sam. “I first met him at a small concert last year. My manager Erick (Raymundo, who incidentally also handles Sam’s career) invited me and my cousins to watch him perform. I admired his ability to sing while playing the guitar because I want to be able to do that too!”

She also met Anne briefly at the premiere of Sam’s movie My Big Love. “I felt very shy because she’s a big star and it was my first time to meet her,” shares Michaela.

When she celebrated her 18th birthday with a debut, Sam served as her escort. “He sang My Girl, then he took me inside and led all the guests in singing Happy Birthday.”

For the record, Michaela and Sam are just friends. She also says that she’s taking the rumors in stride. “Everyone says that it’s OK and that it’s only a challenge. I just have to be strong.”

Well, it looks like Michaela’s strength is paying off, because Sam and Anne have cleared her name in recent interviews. “Now maybe the next time something like this happens, I’ll be able to handle it better.”
