My friend bought the official CCTV DVD collection, so I'm just gonna rip it.

Been seeing this repeatedly in Shanghai during those few days...Grabe, it's very overwhelming to see stuff like this. The expression of each citizen here while watching is something hard to explain. There is a mixture of happiness, tears and the pride in each individuals here...

I'm very lucky to witness this in China. As a Chinese born outside the mainland, all I see and hear are bad sides of China. It is until I came here and see that not everything you see on TV are true. China is growing everyday. I wouldn't be shocked that in the near future China will be like US. It won't be too long.

The right leader at the right time and the love of their own country is what China has to be who they are today. I'm so VERY VERY proud of this country... No other country in the world has ever shown this kind of growing and improvement in the past decades except CHINA!!!

Thanks commoner for the nice picture... Nasira na yun digicam ko... I'm currently in Singapore for 1 month training and work...and I'm buying my digicam here. The SONY T90 (after 1 week of comparing, I still go with pink digicam..) Will be back in Shanghai on the first week of December..sana mag snow ulit sa Shanghai...bwahaahahaha....

...sori, long overdue na to…I was trying to post this earlier but unable to, nagluluko ang server that time…
...anyway, been to Beijing on 24 – 27 Oct, 2009… so, kwento ko na rin ang experience namin doon…

We checked in our hotel quite late na, since 7pm na kami naka alis ng hk. We stayed at Marriott Beijing West. The hotel was excellent, the room was huge, nicely decorated and well furnished. With Buffet breakfast everyday. The location is the only downside, medyo distant lang kaunti from the the center… so taxi lang ang naging mode of transport namin.

On the following day (25 Oct), 10am na kami nag start ng tour, kasi may tinrabaho pa si hubby sa laptop niya. First, we started at Tian’anmen square. . So cp nalang gamit naming mag take pictures). On our way to Forbidden City, napadaan kami sa Xian university calligraphy and arts exhibition ‘ata. May nabili kaming souvenir doon. So, dinner nalang kami sa KFC… Umu-ulan habang pabalik kami ng hotel.

The next day (26 Oct), we woke up with clear blue sky, thanks for the rain last night! Again, we started at 10am for Great Wall Mutianyu, by taxi at RMB 600.- roundtrip na. Wow! Talaga doon, napakaganda ng Greatwall! The view was so breath taking! And the trees were so colorful! “Feel na feel din ng anak ko doon, aba’y napasabi pa ng “dreams come true” daw! We took the chair lift up the mountain, then the toboggan slides down! So amazing! We had so much fun! Hindi pa kami naka alis doon nagtatanong na anak ko, kung kalian kami babalik ng Greatwall ulit!... From Greatwall, sa Ghost Street na kami nag pa drop…we ate sichuan food, …very spicy, but yummy…Then, taxi kami pa Olympic Park. We got there at 5pm, so bird’s nest stadium muna ang pinekturan namin, then we waited for the water cube to be lighted up, to take some more photos. Since early 6pm palang, we decided to go back to Quanjude, Qianmen, but then, my hubby suggested to try their subway system…but my! When we got there at Quanjude its like 5 minutes to 8pm na, and we were told na “they are full” and can’t accommodate us. Hayy, I was very disappointed, talaga! So, we ate mc donald’s for dinner.

The next morning (27 Oct), after the breakfast, we started down to airport to catch our flight back to HK…

Somehow, enjoy naman kami sa trip namin to Beijing, except for not having a Peking Duck there! at sana naabotan din kami ng snow doon… anyways, a snowy trip somewhere else is on the list!

Sorry, ang haba ng kwento ko… Sa mga papunta din ng Beijing, good luck and have a wonderful trip!

just got back yesterday from beijing. bitin yung trip. wasnt able to follow the planned itinerary pero ok alng, more reason to go back next year. nice yung experience dun, except for that time na ipinagtabuyan kami sa square. sabi nga nung isang kasama ko, it's the people's park...until 5PM. then nilapitan din kami nugn infamous "tea house girls". buti n alng at nabasa ko onine yugn about dun. haha. got a nice tour package for mutianyu, at 280 RMB, roundtrip plus lunch and entrance. the GW was nice, pero sobrang foggy and it ruined most of my shots. hopefully, mareremdyuhan sa photoshop. was able to take a lot of good night shots as well. cant wait to post-process the pics and put it online ^^

just got back from tour of beijing (nov 5-8)... dang! it was big as hell... tour there for 4 days and 3 nights care of china panorama. first tour ever... i would say it was ok, not great... but it was ok.

1st day: arrived in beijing late because we got stuck in manila for an hour (PAL) because of necessary checks, met with our tour guide - Frank. so we ate at some restaurant, i loved the sweet and sour pork the rest is a so-so, not really good food as i would imagine. after lunch we went to temple of heaven, and funny thing i witnessed public urinating of kids. The parents are just within the vicinity and watching the kid go. I think it was one of those instance wherein old habits never die (and no, i didn't take any pics). temple of heaven, is nice - but like what our Frank said, everything in beijing is not real. all of them are restored, but it's not bad. after tour of temple of heaven, watched chunyi: legend of kungfu - it was good! probably something that i enjoyed, even so i was waiting for one of our tourmates to get kicked out, kasi ang kulit finifilm yung palabas piangsabihan na ng una, ginawa ulit. pangalawa sinabihan na at sinabi na palalabasin na sya isang beses pa. hahaha... we went to eat our dinner after that. one of the worst dinner I had so far. after dinner, we drove to our hotel. 3-star hotel express holiday inn... somewhere far east (Chaoyang). during the evening, since we were tired from the plane travel we just walked around the vicinity... nothing much to see there, since beijing sorta closed early (unlike HK). We noticed that the room is weird (i'll post pics later). the bathroom door does not close (door is big), see through mirror on the bathroom and the room (you have to close the blinds to get some privacy), bathtub is way too slippery, a/c is centralized so if they are on winter mode the room is hot - but you can open the window, which is not a good idea since the smog goes inside the room - we were on the 14th floor. oh well... gotta live with what you have.

2nd day: woke up at around 6am, since call time is 830am. breakfast at the hotel... crappy hotel food, breakfast consist of curry substitute meat, pechay, cabbage, noodles, fried rice, scrambled egg with onions, their so called dimsum (bun lang ito), kamote, toast, various "salad". 1st destination is the grand opera house and walked towards to the olympic stadium - water bubble and birds nest. lunch time, ate at a famous peking duck restaurant. admittedly the peking duck was good, the rest once again is not that good. i think i ate too much peking duck, they served as 3 servings of peking duck for 7 heads - the cholesterol!!! after lunch, we went to tiananmen square and forbidden city. dinner at an all you can eat restaurant, once again not the best food option. after that tour headed back to the hotel, as for us we went to wangfujing to check the street foods. sad to say we arrived there at around 9pm (not familiar with transpo) so we didn't really enjoy it that much and said that we will be back tomorrow.

3rd day: for breakfast, tried mcdo in front of our hotel. not all that good, our bun is much better than theirs. travelled to jade shop den to badaling section of great wall... far too many locals and tourist in that area. Ate buffet style in the badaling area, food is not that good again. we told our tour guide that we will go to summer palace and will not joing them to the tiangge area, although he is a bit hesitant but still provided us direction using the subway (although we already researched on how to get there) it took us 2 hours to travel from the the great wall to the tiannge area (daoshimen i think). I got really pissed off, since he could have stopped at any near subway station and let us off but he rather bring us to tiangge and hoped that we will change our mind since it's already late. but we still went to the summer palace despite the knowledge that we won't make it, better get lost in beijing than do shopping at least you get to see the "Real" beijing. we did arrived at summer palace, but it's already closed - not letting people in. we grab a few photos and head to beijing university, didn't really spend that much time there, after that we went back to the olympic stadium to get some night pics of the watercube and the bird's nest and finally went back to wangfujing for dinner - street food style! after that, we went back to the hotel and called it a night.

4th day: airport and back to manila.

in the end, i would say it was a short trip and it could have been better if we extended for a couple of days to check out the local sceneries - the one you don't get from the tours. Beijing is a big city, and travelling will eat up a lot of your time if you don't plan your destination properly.

As for the tour itself, it was ok. not great i would say, i think i like singapore or HK food much better compared to Beijing.

thanks commoner and guo_mei_xin for the advise regarding the weather!

next stop going back to sing, den malaysia and thailand! woohoo!!!

The food packaged with Panda's tour isn't anything commendable except Quanjude but I feel that Beijing's food in general isn't that good. Maybe it's because I'm too accustomed to southern Chinese cuisine (Cantonese). If they took you to a restaurant that has around 3 floors with a see-through glass elevator, that's 1 of the good restaurant chains already. This was our 1st restaurant during the tour and our tour guide is also Frank. Food in tours is usually not good but it could have been much much worse had you joined a cheap-@ss local tour, like what I did went I went to Sichuan. Iniisip ko palang nasusuka na ako, it's that bad.

Yes Beijing is HUGE. You won't realize it until you reach the city and see it for yourself. Almost all their roads inside the city are as big or bigger than EDSA. It takes about 35-40minutes to get from east of the city (Haidian District) to the west part (Chaoyang) by taxi with ZERO traffic.

Yes if you want to see the "real" Beijing, you will need at least 1 or 2 days more than the usual 3-4 day tours of the top sights. Until now I haven't been to the Hutongs yet. 2months na ako dito. Nakakatamad umikot kasi the nearest subway station is 10mins walk away tapos ang lamig-lamig. There're actually stations that are around 7mins apart from each other, that's how big Beijing is. Hassle din minsan kasi sobrang laki.

Reminder for those going to BEIJING

You might mistakenly take for granted the Peking Duck. Contrary to what people might think, you can't find it just anywhere. There are a couple of famous restaurant chains specializing in Peking Duck: Quanjude and Dadong. These restaurants, though very big and have plenty of branches, are ALWAYS PACKED specially during lunch and dinner. You have to either go there during off-peak hours or make a reservation at least 1 day ahead.
