Explosion rocks bus in Makati City
Posted 07:38pm (Mla time) Feb 14, 2005

INQ7.net, GMA7

(UPDATE) AN EXPLOSION went off inside a bus at the foot of the Metro Rail Transit's Ayala Avenue station in Makati City, police said.

A GMA Network segment producer on the scene told the station's Flash Report newscast that at least one person was dead and several were injured.

Another bus in addition to the bus hit by the explosion was also burning, "Imbestigador" segment producer Mike Manalaysay told GMA-7.

“There was an explosion at a bus at the MRT Ayala station,” Chief Superintendent Willie Garcia, Southern Police District (SPD) chief told INQ7.net

A passenger who was riding in a bus nearby told INQ7.net that the bus he was on shook from the force of the explosion and that he saw people panicking.

The Makati blast came just minutes after two explosions rocked the cities of General Santos and Davao City, where at least one person was killed while eight others were injured.

A report on GMA Network dzBB radio quoted Abu Sayyaf spokesman Abu Solaiman as saying that the bandit group was behind the blast.

Solaiman, according to the report, said the blasts were their “Valentine's gift” to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

i'm "restarting" my blog to cover this war in mindanao.

1) "weakness is provocative" - rumsfeld.
2) appeasement doesn't work.

Rumsfeld's method doesn't seem to be faring any better. And its even more expensive.

I prefer the Norwegian method of understanding the root causes of terrorism, only then can you solve it.
